• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Transmission filter change?

Today I made a 100 mile trip by car to a UK Can-Am dealer to pick up filter(s) for an oil change.
When I was supplied with only an engine oil filter I asked for a transmission filter, too, believing both should be changed at the same time.
A few seconds on the computer and I was given the news that this dealer had never sold one!
Is it OK to run the transmission filter without regularly replacing it?

The current recommendation is to change both filters at the same time. Your 2011 came with a short filter and now requires a longer filter and a new cap to fit. This is as of mid 2012. BRP has been supplying the trans filter as a kit with the new cap.

Sorry to hear your dealer is a flake, and cannot read a simple maintenance schedule. Both sould be changed at the same time, as was said. As was also said, the new trans filter is longer, and requires a new cap. These were supplied with the filter element for a while, but may need to be ordered separately now. The oil filter has also changed, and has been reinforced. The good news is that after you change the filters your oil change interval is increased. (4,600mi/7,500 km).

Update schedule

Updated schedule copied from the 2013 owners manual.
Take note of the top 2 lines. Line 1 oil change and line 2 HCM filter change. (Transmission)

So I was right, both should be changed at the same time!
My original dealer, the one I bought my RT SE5 from, is no longer a Can-Am dealer. He now sells electric bicycles!
Before he dropped trikes for bikes he changed my Spyder engine filter during a service to the new longer type which extended the milage between changes from 3,000 to 4,600. (From memory).
Dealers appear to make a good living on the backs of their clients but I want to cut the cost of ownership by taking on some jobs myself.

Thanks guys. :D
