There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Trailor hitch wiring

Need some ideas, I'm going to install a aftermarket trailor hitch on my RT-S and was wondering if anyone here know how and where to splice in for the harness. Or did anyone build their own harness. My trailor has a 4 prong plug just like a regular trailor.
The harness from BRP would set me back $240 and the adapter to 4 prong another $140. Any cheaper solutions outthere?
Thanks for any ideas

Schultzi,
I used the BRP hitch which came with the Harness, however to my boneheaded action the harness was not usable. Due to a time factor I was faced with cancelling a trip, or pulling trailer without lites, or making my own harness.
I found a six wire plug and receptacle at an Oreillys auto parts store that would mount to the same area of rear "fender" under the side bag as the BRP plug/receptacle. Then I tied into the light wiring in both rear light assemblies. All the reading I had done told me I may cause problems with the Spyder electronics being sensitive to this type of action, but I went ahead.
In an effort to minimize the possible problems I tied into the wiring on the light side of the rear wiring connection so in the event it gave me issues both rear light unit replacements could have been done as opposed to the entire harness.
To this date, 7 months and pulling two different trailers over 7000 miles no faults or other ill effect due to my homemade harness.

This was of course my own choice and I couldnt recommend anyone go this route. If time would have allowed I would have replaced the BRP harness that I damaged. Now I will continue to use my own harness as long as it works and poses no problems.

I can't help you much, as I use the BRP hitch and wiring, but I do tow other trailers, and had to fabricate my own adapter to the alternate trailer connectors. Please note that the 4-wire BRP adapter harness is to tow the RT-622 trailer with a 4-wire vehicle...not to tow a 4-wire trailer with the Spyder RT harness.

I do not tow a trailer with my Spyder, but I know that Tractor and Supply, if you have them, I didn't notice where you're from, has several adapter. So does Northern Tool or what ever they are called - I was in there last week. I always call them Norther Exposure, after the TV show of several years ago. I had an adapter that came with my Dodge Dakota 10 years ago that adapted its 7 wire to a 4. Used it for 4 or 5 years until I sold the truck. Wish I could be more help.

I have a Bushtec trailer for my RS so when I got my RT-S I made my own wiring harness. Opened up the back and taped into RT harness. Get a test light and have at it. You have the standard 4 wire connector, locate the appropriate wire with a test light and connect.
