There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Trailer Questions

I'm wondering how many of you tow a trailer, how often you use the trailer, & what trailer you have. My thoughts started with a Harbor Freight Tagalong but have moved up to the bigger aluminum units & even to the point of an RT 622.

Help!! I really don 't what to spend than I need to but I don't want something that falls apart in a year.

Your input is appreciated!!

I bought the factory 622 trailer and I love it. I did get it at a discount. Paid $2900. It was a left over 2011 which was exactly what I have and the color matched. I have pulled it about 5 times in the year that I've had it. My wife who is not a real motorcycle nut but she tolerates it and travels on it because I love it said if you're gong to buy a trailer I would rather you get one that matched. That was all I needed. The thing that really seems expensive is the trailer hitch and wiring but I bought it because I didn't want to have problems especially while traveling.

We also have an RT622 trailer that we bought when we got the RT Ltd. (2011). If we are going to be on the road more that 6-7 days we will hook-up the trailer to insure we have plenty of room to carry sufficient stuff (cleaning supplies, extra helmets, trinkets bought along the way, etc.) :2thumbs:

We probably have used it 7 or 8 times so far, it pulls and tracks great, in fact, I check by looking in the rear view mirrows just to make sure it's behind me with some regularity. :roflblack: It might be an expensive option but I think that it has been worth the monery spent plus I wanted something that match!

Good luck on you hunt!

I have a 2010 622 that doesn't match my 2012 RT but that is ok. You see a wide variety of small trailers being pulled by motorcycles and I had one on my 98 GL1500. I could not tell it was back there unless I looked in the mirror on either bike.

PURCHASED A "JD BRAND " CUSTOM ALUMINUM TRAILER, $3250.00 -- AGAIN MADE TO YOUR SPECIFICATION. JD WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE SURE I GOT THIS IN A TIMELY FASHION EVEN THOUGH HE HAD SOME HEALTH PROBLEMS DURING THE BUILD. CUSTOM ALUM WHEELS, ON BOARD AIR SYSTEM FOR AIR RIDE SUSPENSION AND TIRE AIRING ETC, BUT WHAT MAKES THIS TRULY A GREAT BUY IS THE 7.5 GALLON FUEL CELL BUILT INTO THE TRAILER UNDER THE CARGO BOX, ELECTRIC TRANSFER PUMP --- SOLAR PANEL TO KEEP BATTERY CHARGED DURING USE. HAVE'NT CALCULATED TO CUBIC INCHES OF STORAGE BUT I BELIEVE IT HAS THE CAN-AM STORAGE BEAT. CHECK JD BRAND WEBSITE IF YOUR LOOKING FOR TRAILER, CANT GO WRONG WITH THE ADDITION INFO BEFOE YOU PURCHASE:yes::yes:

Bought the RT-622 and it pulls great. Usually hook it when ever the wife goes because there is always going to be some shopping when she's there.

I have three trailers that I tow with the Spyder...a 2011 RT-622, an Aspen Sentry popup tent camper, and a flatbed that I use to haul small vintage motorcycles. The RT-622 gets the most use. It tows better than any trailer I have ever owned, and it probably has 15,000 miles on it by now. The Aspen Sentry also tows well, but eats more gas. It has done some 1,500 mile trips. The motorcycle trailer is based on a motorcycle cargo trailer chassis, and also tows well. It has seen some 500 mile trips and plenty of freeway work.

In short, the Spyder does well with almost any lightweight trailer. Keep in mind that the towing capacity of the fully loaded trailer is only 400 pounds. The tongue weight limit is 40 pounds, and should never be less than 15. Careful load placement in the trailer is critical. Be especially careful about the weights and locations of spare tires and loaded coolers. In terms of wheels, 12" or larger rims are preferred, to reduce wheel bearing rotational speeds, but 8" rims have been used successfully if the wheel bearings are properly packed, and frequently maintained. Staying off the freeway with the smaller wheels is sometimes advised. A trailer with 4-wire lighting (no separate turn signals) is the easiest to adapt/wire to the RT or ST. A 5-wire lighting system can be directly connected to the RS, but with use of a converter it can be attached to a 4-wire trailer quite readily. Use of a 5-wire trailer with theh RT or ST and the factory hitch/harness requires trailer lighting modifications.

The Nomad type trailer works real well with the spyder also and is less than half the price of a 622. i use my Nomad type about three times a year and it serves the pupose very well.

Also, my Nomad has LED lighting allowing to wire it up directly without the special harness from BRP. Just use a 5 to 4 adapter.

did you send the harness yet?? if so, my check will be in the mail tomorrow. thinking i'm gonna buy a 2011 rt 622. it's black & my rt is white. should still look good. told you i'd buy the harness & I still will. then it may be mine to sell huh?? :D

Thanks........................

Thanks to everyone for the input. I've found a 2011 RT 622 that I have a feeling I'll end up with. WAAAAAY more money than I wanted to spend but................(a common issue for Spyder Ryders I think) Think the price is right. Think a black trailer with a white RT Limited isn't an issue. Again..........thanks for your thoughts.

It's a sign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm meant to spend too much on an RT 622!!!!! Thanks for your help on this & your understanding.

I've had a couple of trailers that I have pulled with the spyder. The RT-622 is by far the better due to the coil over springs suspension. I picked up a left over 2010 and had it color matched to lava bronze, ended up being a lot cheaper than a 2012. I tow mine 90% of the time, get used to having there.
