• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trailer Plug Uncaped

Is there some cap that should be on the trailer module after it is installed ? The Recepicle looks a little dirty after 600 miles. Did my dealer forget some thing or not ?

Yes, the trailer module comes with a cap and a zip-tie. The cap is captured by the zip-tie when the trailer plug is attached. The cap is difficult to turn tightly and seat completely. If it does not latch, it can fall off. The zip-tie also prevents that. The caps are not available separately from BRP, but electronics suppliers like Digi-Key, that handle Deutsch connectors can supply new ones. You are looking for a cap for the HD-10 series, 9-pin.

PS. There is also an orange 0-ring that goes into that cap. It can easylly fall out of the cap when your trailer is connected and this cap is hanging from the zip-tie. Unless you deliberatelly
take it off and insert it in the trailer connector plugin manually. It doesn't happen automatically. It's happened to me a few times.

I don't even bother with my O-ring. I have never had a water problem at the plug as a result. When I used the O-ring, I had to remove it every time the trailer was attached, and stick it in my glovebox. Big pain, so I gave up. It is in the glovebox all the time now.

Hi Scotty,

Because it's coming from you, I might just remove the o-ring like you did. I was always affraid a bit about water getting in there. Since the "nany" is so fussy and all. I have tried smearing the inside of the cap with dielectric grease but,,, I'm sure you know what happens with that. Now I had dirt to contend with.

I did the same. All I did was create a need to add a rag to my glovebox. The cap fits a little looser without the O-ring, but it still stays on if properly seated in the detent. I have had no problem with water with two Spyders and a total of about 17,000 miles. Some of that was in hard rain, for hours at a time. I have never seek water inside the lid. The lid is also easier to twist in place without the O-ring. Be sure your zip-tie "lanyard" is attached to the cap, lest you lose it.

Amazing how velcro has taken the place of bubble gum, bailing wire and duct tape... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Nice idea for the cap!
