Trailer Parking at Comfort Inn

Just to clarify, I don't think they are talking about making room for large trailers, but for smaller Spyder haulers or RT-622s when the owners want to unhook. I've been to this hotel and there is definitely not room in front for larger trailers.

I guessing it should be something under a 2 bedroom... ;)

Good to know there is a place to stash the truck and trailer when we arrive. I hope there is enough room to get through Americas Best parking lot and check in...

I'm guessing it will go like this:
Check in
Dump the truck and trailer
go to Pit Bull and get registration package
take a nap

Just talked to the day Manager at the Super 8 and He said there would be plunty of room for out small trailers. the Big ones will have to go to the Vinders Village. Ya things are looking up!!

I wonder why they told me there would be room for the trailer at the hotel. Maybe they don't know what a 20 ft. truck pulling a 23' trailer looks like.

:agree:

I had a similar situation once, took my horse up to New Bolton for surgery (same place Barbaro went) and was staying at Comfort Inn which at the time claimed trailer parking. I didn't think to google map it:

The place was booked solid and I couldn't even pull around the parking lot but found I could back by big rig down and park in multiple spots at the bottom of the lot. Now I always check. (I'm the one who started the trailer parking conversation for SpyderFest. ;) )

I'm picking up a coupler lock today, I'm generally not worried about someone stealing my horse trailer but a little flatbed is a bit more thief friendly and I'm paranoid. :)

I just checked with Spyderlady and she said it should not be a problem to park at Vendor Village way out on the edges. Security will be there starting on Tuesday when the vendors are setting up.

Thanks Faran, SpyderLady and Len!

Thanks for reminding me about the trailer lock... I normally don't worry about it around here.

Yep. Had a new 8x12 flatbed stolen right out of my yard about 8 years ago. I was going to go get a golf car for our daughter so I brought it out the night before and parked it behind the truck. Only thing the sheriff could figure was they hooked a chain to it and drug it across a two foot deep ditch. I now have a ball lock and latch lock on my trailer. Funny thing is, my neighbor leaves the keys in his trucks and has three different trailers parked in my lot and nothing gets bothered :banghead:

You can also get a wheel lock. Looks similar to a boot used by LEO. Guy I know owns a trailer sales, he used to run a 220 hot cable through his trailer tongues at night. If anyone tried to cut the cable, :yikes:. His insurance company said he could no longer do that. Now he has three very nice rotties that frolic in the lot at night. I'd just as soon take my chances on the 220.

Yeah, people suck! We had a car and two trucks "broken" into a few nights ago. (they weren't locked) They stole some change and dollar bills that are kept around for tolls, probably not more than $10 total but it's creepy to know someone was spooking around in your cars. I put up motion detector alarms and a game camera to keep an eye on them. I have to wonder if they'll be back for more later. Of course, now everything is locked up but another neighbor had their lock damaged and a house across the street was robbed a few years ago. :(

thanks a bunch for getting that information for us, it is greatly appreciated.

Make sure you test the keys in the ball lock! I bought a master lock Ball hicth lock and went to use this weekend and found out the keys did not work for the lock. :banghead: Had to go back and exchange it.

Antone worried about moving around the hotel with an RT-622 trailer should remember the last Spyderfests or been there when we were all trying to move around at Cowtown.

First of all :helpsmilie:Thank You Faran..... I will try to clarify a few things..... the roped off spaces (at Comfort Inn) will be for Spyder trailers... ie the trailers being hauled behind a Spyder. The space will be right up front so no one will have to worry about a trailer being stolen, etc. Yes we need to maximize the space so keep them tight together and hook/chain to someone you know in case you need to get it out. We should be able to get 4 trailers to a space.... hoping this will help.

For any toy haulers, etc. Len is prepared to park those at Vendor Village, and there will be a guard there at night so no one should have to worry about their trailers, etc.

I am a little concerned about parking large trailers, etc. that haul the Spyders at the hotels. We have the hotels fully booked and while they have decent parking lots, I would ask that everyone just be considerate of the Spyders and leave plenty of room for us to all park.

I apologize if I covered something that was covered above, I did not have time to read everyone's comments, just read a few and wanted to clarify. Bye for now... see you all soon. I have more to do:yikes:

This may be an issue as the hotel parking lots (Comfort and BW) on google earth look fairly limited coupled with the bad weather forecast that may have more folks towing in than riding in. I'm in Florida and intended to ride in but looking at next weeks poor weather forecast I'm now towing, others may do the same. From what I'm seeing it looks like it would be preferred if we park the trailers at Price Cutter park. Haven't found it on map yet but I'm guessing it's several miles north. So, if I came in on Monday I would have to go there first, drop Spyder and then ride to hotel? Is that what we're being asked to do? Also, if that's the case can we get an address to punch in for the vendor village (which I assume is the same as Price Cutter and Ducks).

I would suggest you go to hotel, sign-in/register and then go to Duck Statium to drop truck/trailer.

Now I am going to ask someone else to post the address or GPS points as I don't have that information ready.

Registration starts on Wednesday at PitBull.... 1332 N. Glenstone, just across from a college.

See you soon.

For all you large trailer haulers.

Here is a link to a satellite map. You can zoom in and take a tour around the hotel parking lots. There looks to be plenty of space to maneuver around the parking areas.

I will stop at the hotel to drop off my stuff and to register. Then take the trailer to Duck Stadium and leave it there.

6 more days.

That's what all of us trailering need to do. I'll have a 20' trailer so I'll probably stay out on the road while BB does the check in, I'll unload our luggage and leave it in the foyer. I would suggest (emphasis on suggest) is that parking near the hotel main entrance or under the canopy be limited to those checking in only. I've been to large gatherings where folks park in those areas while they check in, unload luggage, take said luggage to the room, take a break, visit, leave their vehicle there because they don't want it rained on etc. Not trying to start any arguments here. Just saying that with the number of folks coming in we need to be courteous.

Ummmmmmm........... Teddy says We're bringing both, so what about us ??? - LOL

Only if you've left your front porch and dog at home!
