• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

trailer I con on screen what does it do

Curious..!!

are we talking about the trailer mode on some of the RT's..?? That helps the operating of the engine with added load. There used to be a lot of chatter about it but not of late. You can research it but you don't need it if your not pulling a load...

Actually it does not change gearing, or VSS, or the ABS brakes.

Also there is very good reason to use it all the time, not just when towing.

What trailer mode DOES do is change RPM shift points. Forcing a slightly higher upshifts (keeping RPM above 3500) and auto downshifting at higher RPM as well. This does two things, it keeps the RPMs out of the range of the centrifugal clutch engagement zone where it is slipping and up in the range where the normal clutch is fully engaged. Second, it provides much better engine braking to lessen the load on the wheel brakes.

Its a good teaching aid for riders coming to the 998 V-twin from Harleys or other low speed v-twins. Our two spyders were placed in trailer tow mode before they left the dealership and have remained there forcing the proper shift strategy to promote long life of the clutch plates and proper engine RPM for its design.

All of this is covered in the owners manual you should have received with the bike.
