Trailer for towing Spyder

When my wife and I go to our vacation place about 4 hours away, I like to take the Spyder but I also want to take other toys too. I would like to purchase a utility trailer that would be light weight and fit in half of my 2 car garage. I would plan to tow the Spyder on the trailer behind my truck and then be able to load up stuff like guns, bows, guitars and other hand held toys. It looks like aluminum trailers are quite a bit lighter than others which would help me when pushing the trailer in or out of my garage.

Does anybody have any suggestions along these lines?

I modified a boat trailer that I picked up for $300. Works great.

The only pain is finding a trailer without a boat on it.

I have a 6'x10' aluminum trailer with a ramp on back that works awesome, and meets the requirements you gave. Light and easy to pull and maneuver by hand, yet plenty tough enough for the Spyder. We trailered down to Spyderfest with it and had 0 issues. Now my brother is using it for three dirt bikes. But the cost is an issue. I paid $1300 for it, but it's a trailer that will cover all of my needs for a looong time. There are many makers out there if ya do some snooping.

I just bought a "Ultimite Trailer"out of Denver,Colorado.I Seen one and it looked good.They are shipping next week..It is a little pricey but it is light,don't take up much room,and it is hydraulic which it will lower to ground and ride spyder on and then flip switch and raise to right height..

Kbwitt - The pics came throught great. Do you know what model Aluma trailer this is and what manufacturer made that front wheel locking system? Looks like something I would like.

I got a trailer from Northern Tool for $1,000 when on sale. It is 5 1/2' wide by 10' long. Attached two wheel chocks to the bed and drop the end gate and drive the Spyder on, strap it down and still plenty of room for other stuff. Plus it has a wire cage on the front for a lot of smaller stuff. It was one of the best investments I have ever made as I use it for a lot of other uses also. I've towed the Spyder all over the place. twice to Spyderfest and 3 times to Blackhills (and going again this year to the 3-wheel rally in Deadwood).
I have a 1500 RAM to pull the trailer without any issues.

I got very lucky. I boughtit used with tire chucks, welded tie down loops all in right place . Previous owner also had a 2014 rt. There are Aluma brand dealers all over us. I can tell you its only 450 lbs. And is rated to 1,500 lbs. In the mid $2,000s.

The front wheel locking system is Super Clamp. If you check the sponsors listed on this site's home page you'll find them.. Scroll down to trailers and accessories. It's a great system.

Trailer Alumna 7210 its weight 420 lbs rated to GVWR 2200# the tail gate folds in half and works great. I put a 2x4 on ground and drive up and down no drag. Comes with 13" aluminum wheels.

My husband & I just picked up a tilt bed aluminum trailer from Midway in Litchfield, IL and will be picking it up on the way to the Springfield Mile this weekend. It is very lightweight and the price was amazing!! [even with additions] It's worth a check!!

Thanks TX. Have you test loaded your RT on the trailer yet? If so, do you have enough clearance for the nose of the Spyder so it doesn't scrape? I like the fact that you don't have a ramp to have to deal with but was wondering about the nose going up the tilt bed before the wheels rolled up the bed.

I use a 6x12 utility trailer from Triple Crown (6x10 would work but I like the extra room). Fits in the garage and works great!

We use a droptail trailer, just the right size for us!

We use a Droptail trailer. I really like that it folds and stores upright in the garage and NO ramps needed - built in. Works well for the Spyder with the low clearance. The back of the trailer hydraulically lowers and the built in rear gate folds down to extend the ramp portion. Easy to use. Our Spyder RT just fits and the nose of the Spyder fits in the V part of the front of the trailer. Not a lot of spare room, but works well. The Spyder fills the whole trailer even though this is a "two up" motorcycle trailer. A bonus for us is that our Gold Wing can be hauled on this trailer as well - however, only one bike at a time (unless you have two - 2 wheel motorcycles). There is a standard 8 inch stone guard and an optional 20" stone guard. I did add the 20" stone guard on our trailer. Also, we purchased an optional spare tire which bolts to the bottom of the trailer. It has a steel frame with an aluminum deck with lots of tie down points!

I had priced out the Ultimate Trailer for what I wanted and found it to be very pricey. I only use the trailer a few times a year and just could not bring myself to buying it even though I liked it. We bought a Droptail trailer and it meets all my needs for much less money! See post #17 in this thread for details.

I agree, if money is no issue, an Ultimate trailer would be great.

I wanted the Ultimate my self. Till I priced it out. Bought a 7X12 Lightning Trailer. Enclosed V-Nosed, All aluminum, drop front with brakes. Great trailer. Very happy with it. Several people at the BWCH at Spyderfest checked it out. :thumbup: Tom :spyder:
