• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trade in Value

So I was at the dealer for some more warranty work. (I now 2,400 miles just getting warranty work)
They had a 2011 RT (not Limited Ed.) with 20,000 miles so I asked if they would trade me straight across for my '13 ST with 10,000 miles

Well...They wanted $19,000 for the RT and offered me $9,000 for the ST. I have added the BRP radio, heated grips, rack/backrest, and cruise control. It also has a GIVI topcase, brand new rear tire, Bajaron Sway bar, CalSci large windshield.

Needless to say I am still riding the ST.

$19,000 for an 11 seems really high. Was it on consignment? Sometimes they take them on consignment and the owner wants an unrealistic price. There have been deals on used 2014 RTS and Limited with low miles (under 5,000 miles) for $22,000.

Right you are...!!

stick with the ST. You have it set up nicely so don't give her up epecially at those prices...:lecturef_smilie:asking and trade in...

Crazy high on the RT...

Crazy low for your ST... :gaah:

I'd tell them that my business will be going elsewhere. :banghead:

Trade in value...gotta laugh...

nojokeGotta laugh only because if we expect a dealership to act in any way other than the old "wholesale/retail" thing we are just kidding ourselves because they won't. Bottom line is they are "dealers" just like automobile ones so expect no more.

The prices

In regards to another pricing question on a RT--I went to KBB this AM, just to see what they said. .

Vehicle in Question was a 2013 RT and the value thereof. KBB shows $20K retail for the item. I don't see that happening either.

You and I both know KBB is useless for trade in. Dealers MAY use it for pricing since it is always higher. Edmunds is closer to real world pricing.

I usually go to KBB--because its easy to find. Tried looking up same on Edmunds and here is what I found after several searches.

Edmunds does not provide information about motorcycle values, although the site does have some general information about motorcycles. Motorcycle values ...

If anyone has a link for Edmunds MC values--I would appreciate it.

Also went over to NADA they are showing a range for used 2013 RT-S SE5 from $15K to $20K (rounded).

Sorry I haven't used Edmunds for MCs for autos it is pretty close though. NADA is better than Kelly though

I know the dealer needs to make a profit to stay in business. But they don't have to make it ALL off of me.
Had a wonderful 130 mile ride today. The desert is starting to green up. The wildflowers were in bloom.

I've been in the car business for 10 years and I can promise you edmunds and KBB are a joke. For car guys NADA is the bible anything else is just a show

I have never gotten NADA on a trade in. Dealers use it to overprice their used cars. I have gotten Edmunds true market value on trades and sales within $1k on my last 5 cars.

I was attempting a trade today. I was interested in getting into a new HD street glide special. I now have a 2014 ST LTD. 1100 miles. when I bought it last year, I traded a really nice bike that was paid off. My payoff now is 17,556. The problem is, you can buy a new 2014 ST LTD here in town for 17,999. my equity just went down the drain when we saw that. Well I decided to stick with the spyder and enjoy it for awhile.
