There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trade in value?

You guys are sounding like Goldwing owners!:D:D Practically every 'wing owner is convinced his machine is worth 20% to 30% more than what the real market value is!!!! My 2005 1800 books at a high value over $14000. The local dealer says there ain't no way it'll sell that high. Somewhere around $12000 is more realistic. That's for a close to pristine machine with several add ons and ready for the road!

I bought my 2012 RT for $25,500. Then I added a bunch of aftermarket stuff...probably $2,000 worth.
So $25,500 plus $2,000 equals $27,500.
I have 7,500 miles on it.

So given all of that, I am willing to part with my baby for $32,000.

OK OK OK ... somebody's gonna say it ain't worth that much. I don't care. That is how much it is worth to me. So, if I have no takers, I am gonna keep it.

Above a poster said that Goldwing owners typically think their wings are worth 20% more than they really are. I hope I beat that number by a goodly margin.

:D

NADA and Kelley Blue Book

NADA actually has a section in their website for added accessories whereas Kelley Blue Book does not. You can calculate trade-in and Retail with your farkles included although the accessories lists are generic for motorcycles.

The weird thing is that on the NADA site the 13 limited is not too much more than the 11? Don't sound right to me either...
The factors in determining a used motorcycle value, in my observation, are, in order of decreasing importance: condition, mileage, age, extras. The first two far outweigh the third. The fourth is almost inconsequential. That's why the extras of an LTD won't bring a great return compared to a base RT.

So the wife and I stumbled into the Spyder showroom today to look at the new 2014 RT limited. I asked what our old ones were worth on a trade. The 2011 rt limited was $11000 and the Rt model just below it less. He was figuring these trade in values off of full list. Both bikes are spotless, dealer maintained bikes with less than 7500 miles on them. I thought that would be a real screwing he seemed to think we would be getting a good deal stating that after the 2014 are out awhile the others would be worthless. I figure that they couldn't possible be worth so little. Any thoughts?

Trade in value seems a little low. I was offered $14K for my 2010 RT-S Premier edition with 35K miles on it, towards a 2014 RTS.

What counts is the difference. High trade in may only mean a high selling price. The difference covers the dealer cost of the new bike (accounting for rebates and year end bonuses) minus the real value of the trade-in plus the profit margin he wants to make selling each machine. Good luck deciphering all four numbers from the numbers he gives you.

]But not at the same time. CL prohibits multiple listings for the same item. And unfortunately they don't make it easy to move an ad from one city CL to another. You have to reenter from scratch. Text can be copied and pasted easy enough, but photos have to uploaded each time.

There is one dealer in this area that has a couple of Spyders posted dozens of times on the same CL page as well as on other surrounding cities. I tried reporting it, but then there are even more copies of it.

I did notice that he has the same Spyder sometimes quoted with different prices with the exact same mileage and description.

I can only speak for my local dealer--who uses MSRP--take it or leave it on a trade. Not a lot of options for me, due to location. Here, the trade in value, the financing rate (if needed), price for farkles, are the variable items that kick into the equation. Not to much gets by me on a new vehicle purchase.

:agree: As I recall; they were worth about a quarter of what you paid for them...

And I would add--if your lucky. :roflblack: I have offered my Premier Edition several times for $45K and with the low edition # of 474 and a couple of farkles, I did not have a single taker. :dontknow:

I don't know the details but CL offers paid advertising. Undoubtedly that is what he has. Free CL listings are restricted.

Here's a copy of a local Craigslist ad:

"2012 Can Am "Spyder" Model Type "SR Limited".Pearl White with only 5800 miles on it.In absolutely immaculate condition & have all service records.Included in the price of $28,000."

It does include the trailer too....... Some folks don't have a clue...

Poor bugger probably has it financed and it would take that to get out from under it.

Dealer give you Nothing, Zero, Na-Da for Accessoies and Customizations

It may be that the book shows less for used accessories & add-ons (the values decrease with each year of use). But the dealers don't give anything for them on trade ins. Still a very good argument for selling outright yourself or for stripping the farkles before trading-in, then selling them outright.

When we were at the dealer for the mapping update last week, we looked at the 2014's. Had no intentions of buying one, just looking at it. The service manager comes over and says 'Give me $15000 and your bike ( a 2013 RT-S 5 months old with 2500 miles) and you can have this one', (a 2014 RT-S). Let's see, that would be $35K for the 2014. Shoulda jumped at that offer, NOT!!! He went on to say how BRP dumped all the 2013's at low prices to get rid of them. No sh*t:roflblack:

Or, they are looking for same?

What has happened to values over the last year is dishartening at minimum. Why it happened is pure lunacy!

Not an opinion. A fact. nojoke

trade in value

I just traded my 2011 rt limited for a 2014 rt limited for $11,000 difference. I am happy with that.

I did check residual values before I bought mine and they were pretty good. Not so much nownojoke I was mislead on quite a few fronts actually. The new and improved frame & geometry and shocks (one off). The 2013 seems destined to be like the Mustang II.
