There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Trade in value?

So the wife and I stumbled into the Spyder showroom today to look at the new 2014 RT limited. I asked what our old ones were worth on a trade. The 2011 rt limited was $11000 and the Rt model just below it less. He was figuring these trade in values off of full list. Both bikes are spotless, dealer maintained bikes with less than 7500 miles on them. I thought that would be a real screwing he seemed to think we would be getting a good deal stating that after the 2014 are out awhile the others would be worthless. I figure that they couldn't possible be worth so little. Any thoughts?

I was offered 15,000 for my 2013 RT-S just the other day as a trade-in. Made my decision to keep it really easy. Also, the snarky comment that our bikes will be worthless would make me go elsewhere.

Give Len a shot at it...

I would encourage you to call Len at Pitbull Powersports (417-863-1418) and see what he would be willing to do for you....If the weather improves I will be ryding through your area end of April to pick up my '14 from Pitbull...if winter still there...I will drop south and then over. No matter my '10 will get me to my new ryde...

In November I bought my 2013 RT SE5 with 615 miles on it for $14000 plus $971 shipping from WI to ID. The local dealer said if the owner rode it into his shop and wanted the dealer to buy it, $14000 is about what he would give for it. The dealer offered me a new in the crate 2013 RT SE5 for $17,700, counting in the BRP rebate. Spyders appear to take a real hard depreciation hit as soon as they roll out the door, more so than Goldwings and Harleys.

Low ball big time. Find another dealer. BTW, why not post them in the for sale list on this forum. Also, where do you live, I know at least one guy looking for good used one.

I always check the NADA guide before I shop for any vehicle. At least you have some ammunition when you visit the dealer.

NADA has your 11 Limited at 11 to 18k trade in value and a retail value of 17 to 23k assuming the dealer wants to make around a 5k profit. At 11k on the offer he's low balling it to make a better margin. I suspect these prices will drop by a huge margin as more and more 14 models roll out with that new engine. However the used market will still be strong as the prices of the new stuff is really high and the dealers are not discounting the new ones at all.

I traded my 2011 RT Limited (31,000 miles) in on a 2014 RT Limited with CB ,entertainment harness, trailer hitch and Blade mag rims installed for 17,500 difference tail lights down the road. The RT Limited list for 33,799.00 + 13% HST tax. This is the 3rd Spyder I bought from them and they took 2200 of list ,no PDI and heavily discounted my options. Its a lot of smoke and mirrors so I figure I got over 20 grand trade !

The bottom line is if you are happy with the deal then it's a deal. Someone will always get a better deal.:dontknow:

23K selling price on a used 2011 limited is way out of bounds, with dealer discounts and incentives you can but a new 2013 limited for less than 23 K.

Be realistic in your expectations and shop around with different dealers or post them on the for sale forum and try that route.

I know but I'm quoting from NADA. I would never pay 23k for a used 11 either. The weird thing is that on the NADA site the 13 limited is not too much more than the 11? Don't sound right to me either...

Sell Outright Vs. Trade-In

If you have time and patience, not in a hurry to get the new one you can sell it outright for at least a couple grand more than the trade-in book value. I would suggest you do your homework and look-up your trade-in and retail value for your Spyder. Kelley Blue Book and NADA both have motorcycle lists on their websites. You should never go into a dealer without first having the book values right in your hands. Like I said, if you're not in a rush try and sell it yourself, you'll get much more for your Ryde.

In some defense of the dealer, they usually have some cost in getting the used vehicle ready for sale. They also typically have some sort of warranty if even for 30-90 days. That said, they should expect a reasonable profit and not take advantage of customer's desire for a new one.
I agree, sell it outright, then buy the new one. You will almost always come out ahead for your trouble.

:welcome: Those trade-in values are insanely low! :gaah:
Run; don't walk... to aother dealer!

We will be hauling them from Arizona to North Dakota the end of March. There are plenty of dealers along the way to check with. Also both run excellent so I wouldn't be afraid to ride them for a couple more years. Obviously we don't put a pile of miles on per year. Am considering selling the Rts outright, if I do I will list it with delivery available along my route. Have some thinking to do

Having all of the options available when considering these sorts of things; is always the most fun!! :D
In the meantime; Happy Shopping! :2thumbs:

Craigslist.org. Post them in each city (i.e. phoenix.craigslist.org, denver.craigslist.org, etc...) you will be staying any length of time in. It is a free posting, and I've found it to be a better resource to me when I am selling a bike than CycleTrader.

But not at the same time. CL prohibits multiple listings for the same item. And unfortunately they don't make it easy to move an ad from one city CL to another. You have to reenter from scratch. Text can be copied and pasted easy enough, but photos have to uploaded each time.
