• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trade in price for 2011 RT SE5

I was wondering what trade value members are getting for the RT's against the new 2014's. I may trade mine in in the new year and it would be good to have a good starting point for negotiation.

Little checking..!!

you can check Kelly Blue Book or NADA and get an Idea. They will give you the wholesale trade in and if you sell on your own. But then things change when dealing but it is a starting point...

I see you are located next to the Canadian border, this appears to be a real plus as Canadians can import used motorcycles without an import tax and with the exchange rate they can buy more here with there Dollars. Case in point, I upgraded last summer at a dealer in northern Michigan, the dealer took my spyder on consignment, it was gone within a week headed to Canada at a fair price. (Higher than the going retail prices in our area) This Canadian thing only applies to used vehicles not the new ones.

Good luck on your sale:2thumbs:

Good info, I hate trying to sell things privately but we shall see. If I do, then I also pay tax on the full new vehicle price which can add over a grand to the net difference.

Wow. Columbus Ohio dealer offered me 12,500 trade in value on my 2012 Limited that was loaded with 2700 miles. I was planning on trading up to a 2014. Pretty much told that dealer where they can hide that deal!!!!!!

Something similar happened to me. The trade in value for my 2010 was so very low, I chose to keep my current spyder.
So the dealer just lost a sale. Real smart.
It's yet to be determined what the overall reaction to the 2014 is.
A straw poll (horribly inaccurate) indicates most current owners don't see enough value in upgrading based on the trade in values of their current units.
I suppose it will depend on new non current owners coming into the fold.
Unless of course there is another spontaneous game changer, like a demo unit thermally disassembling at an owners event, or some such.

That's just my opinion. I could be wrong

Values are drastically affected by location; it's pretty much impossible to tell somebody what a "fair" trade-in is in their area.
(unless you live right next door to them! :D)

Try to make a deal. If the numbers are bearable; go for it!
If not; put your hands in your pockets, and walk away...

Its all smoke and mirrors ! I traded my 2011 RT Limited with 30,000 miles loaded for a 2014 RT Limited with trailer hitch, CB and new Blade Rims 17,500 tail lights down the road. List up here is 33,800. So I think I got around 20 grand + saved about 2500 in tax. Tax rate here 13%.

Most of the dealers will not give a price over the phone so not sure why they waste the space on the web site for the email quote thing. I am not driving over a hundred miles to have a dealer low ball me so I will need to keep being a thorn until they want to rock and roll. It looks like on a no trade deal they are being presold at $28,999 for the limited from what I have been told by a local buyer.

Not much I can add that others have already not mentioned. If you do decide to trade, do enough homework so that you walk away satisfied. Nothing is worse to find the deal of a lifetime--after-- you already did the deed.

The great discounts still available on some 2013 RT s tends to hold the trade in values down in markets where those are still available. People have discovered that at the lower price
after adding elka shocks and a bajaron anti sway bar, that they have a hell of of a bike..

I purchased my spyder used from that particular dealer and got a SUPER deal with them. Initially they were not willing to budge on the price, so I walked away. The guy I was dealing with could not believe that I would walk away from such a great deal. They called me at worked, I told them the price I wanted to pay - he said he could do a little bit better then the last price he gave me, so I hung up on him. He called back and said that he thought we were disconnected, "nope I hung up on you, and I am not interested anymore, goodbye". He called back after the weekend and gave me my price and I picked it up. He needed to sell the trike to make the profit on the new trike that it was traded in on.

You may need to go to the dealer in Michigan that can sell it on consignment. May get a much better deal out of that.
