• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My fairly new RT-s SM [250 miles, bought used] has developed a noise seeming to come from underneath the left side pegs [inside cover]. It sounds like a squeeking with a scraping edge to it. IT semms to be speed based , not RPM based and is worse under stain [going uphill] and not so bad on straight aways and absent downhill. It is present in all gears but I don't notice it in reverse. As I said it seems more speed based the RPM based but I can't tell for sure. I guess a trip to the dealer is in order but I'm scared of what they'll find. Sounds like a clutrh or transmission. Does anyone have any ideas ???? John form NY

Drive bely

Is your drive belt aligned correctly?

Drive belt Appears to be aligned. I don't see any rubber fragemnts either. Sounds a liitle more like "metal" then rubber and closer to the engine trans area, to the right of the left pegs.

Check your drive sprocket. Remove, inspect it and the shaft, reinstall and re-torque to new specs.

What might cause the drive spoket to make such a squeeking/scraping ?, sound not to be niave, but I'm a new Spyder owner. Thanks for the tip. jnr

It is the belt tension/alignment. :doorag:

What does it sound like when shifting....does the sound change as the clutch is activated...?

NO odd sound or grinding on shifting itself. Shifts very smooth and no apparent slipping on the clutch. hopefully its just a belt, adjustment, tensioner, or drive sprocket. im taking it in tuesday.

Chirping from belt

Well, I took the new RT-S to the dealer today [275 miles on it] and guess what he said " IT's a known problem on some RT's and BRP does NOT have fix for it yet!". I will get the write ip from the dealer but then I paln on calling/writing BRP. NOt too happy with that awnser !!!!!!!!! JNR

This situation has been reported. It is legit, they are still looking for answers. It always pays to have the dealer make that determination, though. It could have been another problem. Also, if you experience a later failure, the monkey is on their back.
