Towing a Spyder if brokedown?

I am having a custom trailer made for my new RT-S SE5 Spyder, but was wondering if by bad luck one day I am out riding and breakdown, can you "FOR SHORT DISTANCES" put the Spyder in neutral and tow it behind a car/truck, just to get it to a safe place and off the highway, etc..? Of course me staying on it and operating brakes and steering would be needed and I guess like a car the brakes/steering would work, but just not have any power assist?

I don't think there's any places to attach a tow line , with out doing damage to the Spyder, Better off just pushing to the side of the road by hand'.

If I recall correctly, the "pulling of the spyder" requires a different strap set up than the "towing of a spyder". The pulling, i.e., pulling it up into a flat bed tow truck, requires that the straps be wrapped around the lower extensions that goes out to the wheel. However, when towing, the straps go around the insides of the wheels.

I can't say for sure to answer your question specifically.

I have been told that the SE is not towable, but, obviously, the SM "is". I have seen one individual that mounted a foldable hook to the frame of his RS, and another who used a Northern Tools trailer and roof-top carrier for a trailer, include a pair of chocks for his Spyder - so remove the trailer, mount it to the hitch of a car/truck, put the Spyder's front wheels in the chocks, strap her down & off you go.

I think his real intent was a cheap way to transport his Spyder with his car, and have a trailer to use when he got where he was going.

Nothing overly fancy, but my good friend owns a utility type trailer manufacturing business and is making me one sized just how I want it.

6.5 wide x 12' long (with dove tail) and 4' fold down ramp, metal floor with tie down points right where I need them and welded metal front tire chalks, so all I have to do is pull up with front two wheels into them and know I am positioned where I need to be. Then one strap on each front tire and one for the rear and I am set.

I just made one myself from a 7x14 cargo trailer that I turned into a toyhauler for camping. I'm going to try it out this weekend. I attached a link if you want to see what I did with it.

Very nice job! Enclosed trailer to protect Spyder and then a camper for you when you get where you are going. Great idea and nice work!
