• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Touring windshield with/without side delectors??

Dealer called and the balance of my parts are due in today. The question has to do with the "integrated side deflectors" that come with the Ultra Touring windshield. He said some folks didn't like them and left them off. Guess they require some attachment screws so he wanted to be sure I wanted them before they were installed.
Anyone have them?? Would be interested in opinions pro and con??
Thanks.

I put mine on when I expect it to be a bit chilly. Otherwise I leave them off. They only take a couple of minutes to install/remove.

Wow, mine's same color as yours - except all the aluminum is black powder coated.
How are the deflectors attached that you say are easy to put on and off.
Thanks.

Cold weather = On
Warm weather = Off

2 existing bolts, vertically down from the windshield, hold the brackets on each side of the :spyder:
There are 2 pieces of plastic on each brackets.
2 bolts each secure the plastic pieces to the brackets.

Side deflectors

I had mine on for just a few miles before I took them off :gaah:. After riding in a slight mist the deflectors blew so much hair on my hands that my figures were soaked while the rest of my hands were dry. I also smelled a lot of exhaust which is very common with these deflectors. I talked to several people this past weekend and it seemed 50% smelled exhaust while the others didn't. I have the 1" BRP riser and I think your riding position changes how how this deflector works for you.

I don't have the BRP touring shield, But i do have an evo 3 with side deflectors, I use the deflectors only in the winter,
I can ride in the single digits just wearing Mechanix Mpact 2 gloves, In summer i have to take the deflectors off, Because of the Exhaust fumes [back draft] .

Having looked at this post - It looks like the discussion has involved removing the Wind deflectors from the RS Model

Has anyone tried an RT without the Wind deflectors - What are the
effects if any

Thanks
