Touratech Windshield Extension - Video

Last year at SITS I met Reggy and he had a Touratech clamp on, locking Windshield extension/spoiler.

I ordered the one size fits all, based on it's width.

It was $139 but I didn't mind the price if it solves my issues with wind noise or buffeting.

This one would have been a good match too as it has bends, but is slightly smaller.

The other reason I went with this is that I didn't want to buy any of the cheaper solutions I found - not just yet anyway. The others I found either stick on, or you drill holes in your shield.

I didn't want to drill holes as if you screw it up or don't get it just right, the holes have a tendency to spider web on you over time. This Touratech extension allows me to see if a taller shield will do the trick. If it works, I may just go for a more long term solution that would require drilling.

Anyway... Haven't ridden with it yet as the Spyder is torn apart for some other upgrades. I shot the video below to give you a good idea on the scale of the thing and how it works.

I might have to look into that-
Since getting EZ Risers and a new Corbin seat, I am sitting a lot higher and I'm getting a bit of buffering that I didn't used to get. Keep us posted on how it works/how you like it, and if you find yourself annoyed or distracted w/that piece of metal in the middle of your shield.
.....and then clean your garage.

Trim those toenails bro! Band saw and a sharpie is all it takes.....

So we think CHAD is out of business? Would be nice to know for sure.

I tried a Laminar Lip for awhile--- helped a bit---- just didn't like the look-- but maybe for highway use it wouldn't be that bad.

I think someone makes one that clamps on that is wider than yours-- looks more like a laminar lip -- but not as well made as yours.

I thought of the potential vibration and I think I can cut a new piece in a manner that overlaps and rests on the front or rear edge of the CHAD, with enough bend to keep a positive pressure on it.... Only other thought is minor abrasion over time with that. Worse case, I just trim the new piece until I reach a happy medium.

If I trim the edges of the toe nail, then I don't have to do a dang thing to the extension.

Thing is... If CHAD made one 2 to 3 inches taller, I'd be all over it.

Dead site for the most part. Evan hasn't had them for sale for some time.

They made the CHAD, and also GIVI bag mounts. Their mounts weren't all that great looking, but at least they had the thought to put a cross brace on them to prevent contact with the fender brackets. (It happens with the actual GIVI racks).

I can't remember what else they made for the Spyder, but they were based in Canada.

Maybe they finally got into trouble from their 'madstad' copying?

After the BRP GIVI quick-release racks came out-- all others just seemed to pale in comparison IMO.

They had made some rims and other items too. Strange indeed. Would be nice if we knew what the real deal was.

The CHAD seems to get a bit wobbly already---- taller would no doubt make that worse. Works well for me-- but I'm vertically challenged....

Update:

Ran 250 miles today with the touratech...Had planned on removing it and adjusting the CHAD with it on, etc...

Bottom line is, it works as is, causes no deflection to the CHAD... and cured my buffeting for the most part.

I bought something similar from baker air wings that clamps on top of my chad...works awesome and I think it was like $69 or $79 if I remember right. I can't seem to find it on their website though. I use it for any longer trips and also helps deflect the rain too. I am 6'3".
