• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone ever heard of a FIRMAN generator ?? Very limited info on the the interweeb. It is 50% off at Lowes, and looking for some info. Have contacted customer service , but as yet no reply. Would be used as a backup/standby power solution in the event of a brownout.

ya been there done that , but very limited info/reviews. Still looking for further info, apparently these are used overseas in places such as nigeria and same.

Gotta say...

Powered by Kohler must be good. I have an off the wall brand with no information and has worked for the last 6 years without a hitch. Noisy but for outdoor use works fine...This one looks way better. but then mine is a 4000 watt generator and cost 385.00...

Big company owns them, Sumec. Kohler powered, I've had good luck with them over the years.
You seem to get a lot for the price, looks like Amazon sells them. Limited reviews but they seemed to like them.

Might just be a portable contractor size unit. It will be noisy. Just make sure it meets your wattage needs

Probably like most other generators, assembled from off the shelf components and a name slapped on. I would guess the engines, generator, and controls are the same as brands like Northern Tool and other retail chain names.

Something like computer monitors. There's what, maybe 50 to 100 brand names out there, and what is it, 2 or 3 screen manufacturers? Brand names mean almost nothing these days. You still see names like Polaroid and Westhinghouse on electronics. The companies that originated those names are long gone.

We use generators quite a bit for our business and quit messing with the off brand stuff. The main thing we have found with just about all of the "off brands" is they never seem to be able to put out anywhere near the amount of power consistently that they are rated for. The better units seem to be able to handle consistent heavier loads easier. This causes considerably shorter life too....On the generator as well as what you plug into it.
Personally, I'd spend a bit more to get a quality unit.

I had a Harbor Freight generator for many years when I lived in PA. It worked well and kept the house running on many occasions.
