a short story:
I pulled into the driveway today from a short ride. My wife of 45 years was in the driveway, so she came over to greet me...
She pointed to our Flag attached to the MAN-CAVE and said, "Why don't you get ride of that one and get a new one?"
I looked at our Flag, and in seconds I replied to her: "She may be old, She may be torn, tattered and faded, but like you, She is still beautiful to me."
My wife hugged me and said, "Thank you, She is beautiful. Let's just leave Her there"....

She may get beat up by our politicians, but She flies high and proud to me, for She does not represent those politicians, She represents WE THE PEOPLE... :clap:

Arn't you doing the same thing our present government is doing by disrespecting our flag's rules. WE THE PEOPLE, follow the rules and traditions, we don't drop to their level. Keep it if you must but fly a new one with pride. Please.

Good move! I am, for one, glad you did this.

Displaying a worn and tattered flag is pretty much universally considered disrespectful to the flag, and America. I understand your sentimental attachment and can agree with the symbolism you attach to it's condition. But no one but us and your wife know about how you see it. Everyone passing by will take see it exactly the opposite of how you intend it to be.

Put that worn and tattered flag in a place where you can continue to cherish it for what it means to you. And at the same time display a brand new flag for everyone else to cherish.

The way you have done this gives everyone the right idea. Just the way you wanted it to be! :thumbup:

You've got me thinking. When I retired from the military a number of years back, I received a 4' x 6' flag from a NYS Congressman. So, today I was looking at shadow boxes on the internet, and can only find boxes for a 3' x 5' flag. Do you know if that would work for a 4' x 6'?

Sometimes local vet groups have these items for sale. If not a stock size, maybe you can get one custom made.

Thanks for retiring the old one. I agree our nation has undergone some serious challenges, but, I believe we can and will endure much more!!!
