There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Torgue Windshield Screws??

I'm replacing the windshield on my 2012 RTS with another can am windshield.
What is the correct torque on the screws?

Jim

Good one...!!

I just go snug plus 1/4 turn. Don't know if there is a torque spec for those and I would not put a torque wrench to them :yikes:

The easiest way to put something back together:
Notice how tough it is to unscrew something, while taking it apart. ;)
Use the same force on the fastener, when it's time to get rid of the "parts pile". nojoke

Windshield screws

There is one oddity to windshield screws: By law, they have to release on impact. Just in case. So, snug them down, add 1/4 turn. The trim pieces remove easily, just wiggle after the screw is removed. Tape over the openings on the bike....screws dropped DIVE into open holes! Joe

:agree: Unless you're absolutely SURE, that you won't drop them ( :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:); it's best to make plans to cover up all of the openings. nojoke

:agree:I have replaced, or exchanged mine 3 times since I purchased it in Sept. 2014. I just ordered another shield (hopefully my last) and will be putting it on this weekend. I always use a short ratchet to prevent overtightning.

Which one are you replacing? I am still thinking of getting a shorter windshield for summer, and know that you cut down a stock shield. I would be interested in that if you are looking to sell it.
