There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Top speed

Preferences have been verified to be American units. Have not verified against a GPS, but nearby traffic confirms it's at least close.

With stock tires the speedo will typically show about 3 mph over actual speed at 60 to 70 mph as checked against a GPS. This is to comply with International regulations that no vehicle speedometer indicate a speed less than actual. And based on what I have observed the native measurement system in the Spyder is metric with those values being converted to English units.

So, I am seriously looking at buying a 2020 Spyder. I have not had the chance to
ride the RT or the F3L. MY question for those that know, what is the top speed of either
bike from a rolling speed of 75 mph in 6 gear. Known opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I do not wish to spend 28K for a bike that will not top a 100 mph.

Thanks in advance!!

I saw 107 Friday and then ran out of room, she was still climbing. No issue passing 18 wheelers solo or two up.

The top speed question is because that I have a problem driving behind 18 wheelers. I wish to get out, around
and back in safely. My 2015 F3L would run close to 120 mph and my 2017 F3L has to take a little time getting to
87 mph. according to my dealer this is because of gearing and the ECU starts closing the injectors as I get to
85 or so. So for $28K, I can buy a Goldwing and cruise on or get my 2017 ECU reprogramed and be a happy camper.
Just a curious question on my part.
Thanks much for all the input.

Thanks Troop, I understand what it does now, guess I don't need to go 90 or 100 mph, but good to know that the Rotax can do it without throwing a rod out the cylinder.

Funny that this should come up. I did a 500 mile day trip to the NC mountains on yesterday. On the way back, I got my 2016 F3T up to 115 gps mph. The first 112 went very fast, but they started climbing slower after that. I had possibly 3-5 mph more left in it, but I didn't want to push it. The 3 sport bikes with me left me (of course), but the harley and M109 that were with me had to back out at 110, as they got the dreaded death wobble. I just wish I had been on my Vmax to show the sport bike guys what was really up. Lol!

Saw 122 on my 2008 with the factory accessory Hindle exhaust and with me tucked in on a long slightly downhill straight in Vermont 998 Motor
Saw 113 on my 2011 RT Limited Stock 998 Motor
Saw 118 on my 2015 RT Limted Stock 1330 motor
Saw 108 on my 2020 in 5th gear. (would not hold that speed in 6th) 1330 motor. (The 2020 pushes way more air than the previous RT)

You will discover, all things being equal, that the size of your windshield has more to do with your top speed than almost anything else you can do to your Spyder.

:agree: The barn door sized wall of air that ANY Spyder hasta push ahead of it is astounding, let alone that of any Spyder with a windscreen! The windscreen size is the single most critical factor in achieving whatever the top speed your particular machine might be capable of! If you want to go faster, take the screen off! :ohyea:

If I pass, I drop down a gear and goose it. Works well for my weight & needs. :)

ps. 117 for me and it scared the you-know-what out of me.
