• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

top case rack

THAT is for sure! The farkles don't come cheap! :yikes: I'd send hubby back to work to earn Spyder money, but his chemo schedule really doesn't leave much time for working. nojoke
Hope the chemo goes well, been there done that myself. He will feel better than ever when he is done. bete

Newbie trunk recommendation

Hello to ALL! I am a new member as of a few minutes ago. Another member, Sunshyn, recommended this site to me.

Now to the "top case rack" thread. Sunshyn purchased this trunk http://www.amazon.com/Scooter-Motor...52401682&sr=1-18&keywords=top+case+motorcycle a while back. There are several pics of the trunk AND a good pic of ALL THE INCLUDED hardware shown in the link above. I took the aftermarket passenger backrest off in hopes of mounting the trunk for her. No instructions makes mounting this thing not as easy as I thought it would be.

I think the total cost was about $54.00. It is not lined inside, but otherwise is pretty sharp, with passenger backrest and lights/turn signals. I just want to mount it for her. It comes with hardware and a plastic plate but I do not think any of it was designed for a Spyder.

I read ...........can not recall member's name...... that purchasing a rack to use for a mounting base would work for aaaaaaaa "Givi" I think. I wonder where to purchase this rack and also wonder if it will work with this trunk. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looks like you might have to drill the sport rack (if you have one) or use the Kewlmetal mounting plate. If you luck out and the mounting holes align, it will be easy to bolt on, otherwise I see you having to McGuyver something.

ASP..........thank you for the suggestion. Sunshyn's "HotRed" is the first Spyder I have been close enough to to realise that these machines are unlike anything I've ever seen. Now, this Spyder has what I discovered is a sport rack with an adjustable passenger backrest mounted on it, which I removed and put back on, b/c the hardware supplied with the trunk would not work. However, someone who knows something about this might be able to make it fit. I will check out the Kewlmetal mounting plate. I can see some McGuyvering ahead.

The Spyder sportrack should have come with a flat plate to click into the spot vacated by the adjustable backrest.
You should be able to mount that base plate that came with the box onto the sportrack flat plate.

Unfortunately, the flat plate was not included in the sale of the Spyder she purchased with backrest installed. There is a baseplate available online for $110.
