Took a trip on my Spyder to Northern MN.

Just finished a 900 mile trip to Ely, MN to see the in-laws. Had excellent weather riding up and my wife rode with me the last 100 miles up to Ely from Cloquet. I need to get her a new helmet though. I think the Shoei Multitech I got for her is a bit too small as she said it was giving her a headache after an hour or so of wearing it.

The weather for the trip back was cool and it kept spitting rain. Not enough to put on the rain gear but enough to get the helmet visor wet.

All in all, an excellent trip, my 2013 RT-Ltd ran great and I now have over 6300 miles on the Spyder.

Trip

I also have a little over 6000 miles on my 2012 RT and am about to take my first trip of any length.

I am heading from the St. Louis area to Elkhart Lake WI to watch 4 days of Grand Am and American Le Mans series racing. I have been there several times and it is a great time. You can get up close and personal with the drivers and mechanics while walking the paddock. Road America is a great track with wonderful sight lines some of which offer views of 2 or 3 turns at once.

Perhaps I will see another spyder or two there?

Great news..!!

Good to hear from the other side. Sounds like a great trip and the drizzle did not hold you back. You should check wife's helmet should be snug but not cause headaches. It may get better with use but never know..!!:ohyea:

That's my old stomping grounds. Is the Chocolate Moose Restaurant still in operation? Some beautiful country there, right on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe area. Did a lot of canoeing there when I was in MN and WI.

Yes, the Chocolate Moose is still there. I've never eaten there though. My wife's parents live in Winton and we've been going up to visit them and the rest of her family the last weekend in July during the Blueberry Arts Festival for a very long time now.

Shoei Helmet

Before you spend money on a new helmet for your wife, you might try thinner pads in the helmet. They can be changed out.

We think the helmet is either too small for her or it's not the right shape. She says she had a lot of pressure on the sides of her head after wearing it for about an hour and it gave her a headache.

How long are you going to be up north?
any plans to head over to the north shore before heading home? Butch and I are heading up to Beaver Bay, MN next week (Monday) for a few days. If you go that direction pm us and maybe we could get together.

Sounds like the wrong shape. The helmet should fit snugly, but contact the head evenly all around. If there are pressure spots or tight spots, it is usually the wrong shape, not the wrong size.
