Took a ride in Vermont's snowy north today!

I was in the mood to take a good ride today and decided to head out east and north from where I live. The first part of my ride took me near the Mount Mansfield State Forest. I then headed north through the Cold Hollow Mountain range and ended at Jay Village near the Jay Peak Ski resort area. Vermont had some significant snow fall in some areas. The snow on the mountain tops made the backdrops very scenic. The sky was kind of overcast today, but there still was some sunshine as well. I had an enjoyable ride! I did get a lot of looks from people driving by and got a couple friendly nods from deer hunters walking down the road. In Jay Peak I was stopped to take some pictures and some tourists wanted to take a picture of me on the Spyder. I guess they thought in was cool seeing a Spyder in the snowy parking lot. I have several pictures to post. I hope you all enjoy them!

These are some scenic pictures I took of the snow capped Mountains in the Mount Mansfield area heading east on route 15.

More pictures!

These were taken in the Cold Hollow Mountain Range between Belvidere and Montgomery Vermont on Route 109 heading to Route 118. In this area is where I started to see where more snow had accumulated.

Grip Wind Covers

Hey VT,
Great shots....haven't made the trip to you state since the BMW MOA in Burlington a few years back. The Grip Covers you have seem like a smart addition....where did you get them??

Did you get a new snowmobile yet. I must decide if i'm going to renew my vast pass before dec.15th

And More!

After I left Route 118, I headed North on Route 242, which would take me to Jay Peak. Now this is where the winter wonderland is in Vermonts North. I started to see more snow as I headed up the mountain road.

Heading to Jay, I had to watch for falling ice coming off the power lines that crossed the road. Check out the snowy trees on this route!

At least besides daily work hum drum, you can go to really nice places on your time off that is close by. Wish we lived somewhere like that! We just deal w/ the "tri state" area. YUCK

Ok Vtrider, that's it, I'm going over to the snowmobile forums to check out trail conditions.

Here are the rest.

My ride ended at Jay Peak. I wanted to stop in at the Inglenook Lodge at the base of the mountain to see what they offer for rates in the off season during the summer. This looks like a great place to plan a Spyder greet and meet, which I want to organize next summer. I wasn't able to go up the drive to the lodge. It was so snow covered that I would of never made it up the hill. I was going to play around in one of the parking lots and do some donuts, but there was so much snow that I figured that I would end up getting stuck!

Those are SkiDoo handlebar muffs. They do work great in colder weather. I have the heated grips and heated gloves. On the cold windy days especially, the grip covers really help keep the heat contained to keep my hands warm.

My sled is still at my dealer. I have it on consignment to sell. I'm still not decided if I will buy another sled yet or not. I do however still have my kids snowmobiles to ride if I choose to. If my sled sells, I will be in a better position to buy a sled, until that happens I don't want to rush into anything yet.

Jay Peak is located in upper northern Vermont not far from the Canadian border on route 242. I snowmobile that area a lot and it's one of my favorite places to ride.

Next spring or summer we just have to plan a ride up here! Jay has plenty of lodging options in the off season. I would love to have a weekend gathering with some of the Spyder lovers up here and enjoy some riding in the area. I think Northern Vermont would be a great place for everyone to tour.
