• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Took a demo ride today

After work today I went to see a friend that I grew up with that I haven't seen in some time. He owned three Spyders in the last several years and has sold his last Spyder to one of his brothers and he purchased a new Slingshot from a dealer in Wells River Vermont. We both went for a ride in it and he let me take my turn at the wheel on our return ride to his place. I think the Slingshot is a cool ride and very different from a Spyder. It's fun to drive and it does turn heads on the streets! The Slingshot kind of reminds me of my Spyder GS when they first came out. I was the only guy in the local area with one at the time and it seems everybody wanted to take a close look at it at fuel stops. The slingshot gets that same attention being so new in the area. Armand, my friend, already has 5000 miles on it. He and his wife just came back from a trip with it from Nova Scotia. Like on the Spyders, those Kenda tires wear pretty fast. He is now running a car tire in the back. ...Sound familiar? I don't have anything bad to say about the slingshot. It definitely has it's own fun factor. I would like to take one out again on a longer ride. At least now I have a comparison between the Spyder RT and the Slingshot. Neither one is better or worse, just different in there own way.

I love the Slingshot, and yes they are a blast to drive. But I would only buy one as another form of recreation, not as a replacement for a motorcycle or Spyder. Unfortunately, I am restrained by budget :banghead:

Do you think people climb in and sit in the Slingshot like they seem to get on everyone's Spyder? I bet the car type seats and steering wheel inhibit folks mentally... even kids.

I think people would be afraid Batman would beat them up.....

I looked at the Slingshot as a fun toy but to me it,s a car with 3 wheels. Not knocking it but if I,m in a 2 seater it,ll be. Miata
If 2 wheels Goldwing
3 wheels Spyder
All toys are fun ride safe

I do like your list!
Here's mine:
A two-seater: Mini Roadster
2 wheels: Kawasaki Vulcan 900
3 Wheels: :spyder2:

:D They are a really neat little... car! :2thumbs:
If I had a spare 25 grand or so laying around; I'd have one!

For me it's not about having the extra money, because I don't. I just don't have anyone at home to say "NO" to me about getting in more financial dept. So I have to discipline myself and say "No" I can't afford yet another new motor toy! But...But...I REALLY WANT...NO!!! :lecturef_smilie:

If you look closely at the picture, my buddy has a Batman mask stuck to the headrest on the driver seat. Maybe that is to scare people from climbing in with out invitation.:yikes:

I spoke briefly to a couple in a Slingshot in Aulds Cove NS about 10 days ago, might have been them, they were headed east, I was headed west. They were certainly smiling, and had a smile for the Spyder. They were travelling with some 2 wheelers.

I think the Slingshot is neat though not for me. It is a car with one less wheel. I'm still trying to figure out if the Spyder is a motorcycle with an extra wheel or an ATV with one less wheel. i find myself looking for my Spyder controls on my ATV. :sour:

FUN

ya, got'a agree, the SPINGSHOT would be a fun CAR to DRIVE......
versus our
SPYD3R's and fun to RIDE....

i just have a very difficult time seeing how some states have classified this vehicle as a
'motorcycle'...
it has a 'steering wheel', 'clutch, brake & gas pedals', a 'floor shift', 'center console', SEAT BELTS, & NO glove box.... and Mary Anderson would be very upset if she knew they didn't come with her invention; WINDSHIELD WIPERS....
plz correct me if i'm wrong... but all those things say
CAR to me, what about you....????

Yes, Driving it was like being in a small sports car, but with a more open cockpit. The slingshot does have a small glove box on the passenger side built into the bodywork. It's more a three wheel car in my opinion and not a motorcycle.

Worrying about what some moron in your State's Motor vehicle Department decides to call them is a waste of time... :gaah:
It's what we all choose to call them; that matters!

"How about: "FUN!!!" :yes::ohyea::yes:

Here's the thing..!!

some have the rest will re classify them as "auto cycles". They are great, cool, neat etc in their own class as is the spyder in it's class. Do feel that if you are strapped into them you should have more of the auto safety features they avoid by being claaified something other than a car. Glad you had fun with it there will be more coming along...

Totally Different

We have a Spyder RT and a Slingshot. I prefer the Spyder and the wife prefers the Slingshot. Other than having 3 points of contact with the asphalt, they are totally different animals. We usually take the Slingshot for the longer trips and the Spyder on the shorter ones. And NO, having a steering wheel and seats doesn't keep folks from wanting to sit in the Slingshot!
