• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The sky is falling... It's true, I read it on the internet and I received 132 forwarded e-mails telling me to bend over, grab my ankles and kiss my a$$ goodby. I have to go and finish my bunker now.

Before you do that; don't forget to send that money to the good fellow in Nigeria who's hoding your winning lottery ticket. He needs the funds so that he can forward the winnings to you! :2thumbs:

Well we DID have one fly just a bit too close to Russia this morning... It blew up in the atmosphere and rained rocks on the folks who were outside. A couple of hundred injuries...funny-kid.jpg

Tunguska

Only from studies. I wasn't around then :roflblack:.

Seriously though, the impact is estimated to have been equal to between 5 to 30 megatons of TNT with 10-15 the average guesstamate. The object, it's still being debated as to wheather it was a meteoroid or a comet fragment, blew up on entry. It destroyed an area equal to 850 sq. miles. It's estimated to have knocked down something on the order of 80 million trees. Today that same blast would destroy a large metropolitan area. By the way, this was not a direct impact, this damage was just from the air blast about 5 miles above the earth. However scientists still classify it as an impact.

You are right on on the Tunguska incident.

How about today though? A meteor exploded upon impact with the atmosphere over the Ural Mountains in Russia and they are claiming 500 to 1000 people injured by that one. They have videos on the internet about this one.

The article states that Russian military knew of the impending contact with the meteor, but did not notify the general public about the situation. Fortunately, they did not retaliate against us for a suspected missle strike or something like that.
