There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tom Tom Rider 2 GPS and Spyder RT-S SM5

I just bought the Kewl Metal (KD-257) GPS/Gizmo adapter. I had to buy the hex wrench for the bolts that were supplied with the KD-257 but no big deal.

I was surprised that the factory bolts (holding the steering handle bars - four of them) are a different size. Went to the local hardware store and none of their in-stock hex wrenches (also known as allen wrench's to some people) would fit the OEM bolts. Does anyone know the correct size I need so I can remove the OEM bolts?

Another question about my GPS. This GPS was previously being used on my 1994 Honda Goldwing. I used a Scalar headset mounted to my helmet to hear the voice commands from the GPS. It communicates via bluetooth. I was wondering if the ZUMO 660 GPS that is designed to work specifically with the Spyder RT-S SM5 uses the wiring harness to interface with the radio or if it uses bluetooth to communicate directions through the radio/sound system? If so, will I be able to interface my TomTom Rider 2 via bluetooth also?

Thanks for any responses.

Allen Wrench

Look in your tool kit located under the seat on the back right corner. It is hard to see because it is black on black and the velcro is black.

Not sure what advice you are giving me?

I know where the toolkit is. However unless I am missing a hex wrench (or allen wrench, which is what they used to be called), the size necessary to remove the bottom screws in the handle bars is not there. There are hex wrenches, just not the right size.

Check yours and let me know if I am right or wrong. I am assuming the hex wrenches included are the ones intended for everyday repairs. Not the one necessary to remove the handle bar screws.

Thanks for offering advice. And I will check again. But I think you will find the hex wrench for the handle bars is not there. I will check again tomorrow and let you know what I find out.

I think the sockets are 5 mm or 6 mm. Go out and buy a set of metric hexoganal (Allen) wrenches and go first class. They're low cost. You'll need many of them as time goes by.

On my RT the allen head bolts that hold the handlebars on are 7mm. If there is a 7mm Allen wrench in the toolkit I missed it. I had a 6 and an 8 in my toolbox but no 7, it is an uncommon size. I borrowed one but I'll buy one later.

Sorry Newbee -- the size you need is not in the toolkit. I looked there first.

What I like about FORUMS like this, is people post the right answer and/or try to be helpful. Sorry Arthur, you guessed wrong

I have tried 6mm (too small) and 8mm (too large) so Cotton, just like Goldilocks, I bet I will find 7mm just right. LOL. I live in a village (in Ohio, a village is an incorporated area of less then 5,000 people). We do have a friendly, local hardware store and they let me take their supply of hex wrenches outside where I parked my trike and the 6 and 8 did not work. I have narrowed it down to 7 - I just need to find it.

Drove to the Home Depot and asked the guy (he had to be well in his 60's) where they had their hex wrenches. He was perplexed and absolutely had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, I said some people refer to them as allen wrenches and he knew immediately what I meant. When we went to see the "allen" wrenches, all the boxes were marked "hex wrenches."

BIT OF HISTORY: The term "allen wrench" is derived from a wrench first made by Allen Manufacturing Co., Hartford, Connecticut. First known use was in 1943. Later, the term became generic for all hexagonal, L-shaped wrenches.

Yeah, there's all kinds of examples where specific brand names tend to become generic terms. For example, I use a Skil saw that happens to be made by Porter Cable, several Crescent wrenches that are sold as Craftsman adjustable wrenches, and a Sawzall that is sold as a Craftsman Reciprocating Saw. I even have a friend who drinks orange Cokes. For me, one of the problems with referring to Allen head bolts or wrenches as "hex" bolts or wrenches is that common bolts are also hexagonal in shape. By the way, the only configuration that I've seen a 7mm "Hex" wrench was as a socket with 3/8 drive although I'm sure L shaped wrenches are available somewhere.
