Today, I took the Spyder demo onto the 'actual' road (3 times)! Awesome!

Just like zzneonzz (Tim) said; it's going to make the wait that much harder now! But, it was great! I received my motorcycle endorsement this past Thursday, thanks in a big way to Tim offering to meet me at my local DMV, and letting me take his SE5 around the building, and operate the lights for the fine folks at Oakland's Driver's Testing Center (yes; that's the riding portion of the test :)). :thumbup:Afterwards, we enjoyed some coffee, and good conversation at the cafe next door.

Tim was at the dealer when I arrived this morning. It was sprinkling some, so we just sat around and talked with a couple of other customers and the employees for a bit. Oh! And, Tim bought something very cool for his SE5. But, I'll let him tell you all about that.:D

After the rain stopped, I finally took the Full Moon SM5 Spyder demo out into the cove where our dealer is. I wanted to get used to it before I went out into traffic. And, this was the first time I had a Spyder out of 3rd gear, too! :sour: I rode it around the adjoining backstreets where there are some strip shops, more coves, and no traffic. I took it into a couple of these businesses parking lots, and played around with Reverse, too.

Then; I followed Tim on the dealer approved demo ride which is comprised of several square blocks making up around 5 miles, I would guess. The maximum speed on the roads we traveled is 45mph. And, that was fine since the HD Bones helmet that is on loan to me by another friend that rides a HD Road King, wanted to lift off my head above around 50mph! :yikes: No matter; it was a blast! And, like everyone says, nothing is like a Can-Am Spyder! :2thumbs: Tim and I did that route twice. He had to leave, and I hung around. As we were talking right before he left, another customer was there interested in the Spyder. So, I was going to have to wait to take the demo out again.
So, I went ahead and purchased the Can-Am Spyder Respirator Gloves. A few minutes later, I took to the road again. The gloves help! And, yes; they do breathe. Very cool! As I was getting ready to make the last turn onto the main road leading back to the dealer, rain started again.  I was going to make another circuit. But, I decided to bring it back. That was really, really, nice! Hopefully, my Spyder will be arriving within the next couple of weeks!!

I can see it now you will be up there every saturday till yours arrives just to take the demo out for a spin :D It was great showing riding today even though the weather wasn't being very friendly. We will have to go for a nice ride once yours comes in and get out of the city on some of those twisties. I'm glad i went ahead and got the Cowl it really finishes off the look for solo riding (and the Girlfriend didn't even notice it was on there today) Looks like we will be getting her a helmet though since mine was to big for her even though she thought it would be to small :D

Glad you finally got to get the taste of having one past 25mph or so in a parking lot. I know the wait is going to be even worse now!

Greg, ypu really blew it now! I took my demo ride The 1st week in June in Las Vegas, ordered it the next weekan got it the last week in june. That was the longest 3 weeks of my life!! (but well worth the wait). Just went for a 175 mile cruise in southern Utah today with a buddy and I can't wait to get back on it! Have fun on your new Spyder and :congrats:

Well.... I hope there aren't many Saturday's left before mine arrives!!!
But, that was a blast, for sure! And, it's going to be wonderful to get on some back country roads, too!
I absolutely agree, Tim about the cowl adding that extra touch. Very sharp!

Ha! Yeah! But, I'm that much more ready for mine to arrive now. Man, I wish the dealer were open today!!! :2excited:

I didn't mention in the first post of the thread about my opinion of the power of the Spyder. I think the power is more than adequate; a bit scary actually when I opened the throttle hard! :yikes: And, make no mistake, I was being quite careful. Remember; I have not ridden on the road in 30 years. I was following Tim, and keeping pace with him the first two circuits of the ride. But, that 45mph speed limit arrived very quick on the Spyder's speedo. I'm very impressed with the power. And, I am sure, I will never need more power.
Also; the demo has the Hindle exhaust. Sounds good! I didn't opt for that option, however. The sound of the stock exhaust is just fine for now. Actually, I think, I'll be happier over time with the more quiet sound of stock. The other thing is; I need the Can-Am Spyder Jacket, rain suit, rain boots, winter gloves, etc,,,. ;)

The demo didn't have the 1" riser. I'm 6'4" - 195 lbs. For the short time I was on the Spyder, it was really comfortable. Of course, I suppose, even if the seat had nails, and the handlebars were down by the front axles, I would have still be delighted! roflmao I was finally on a Spyder!!!!
Tim's SE5 has the 1" Riser, and really likes it. 1" doesn't seem like a lot. But, he feels it makes quite a difference. I rode his at my test, and it felt really good. I'll probably go ahead and have the dealer install one when my Spyder arrives.
