• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

To Blip or not to blip?

Is the proper up-shift done without blipping the throttle? I have watched some videos and notice the right hand remaining steady, coming off a BMW R1100R, it's a new learning curve..

Best not to blip going up as it gets too jerky.... the Spyder is designed to let you stay on the throttle.

Going down you will find the computer blips it for you.

They have you covered. No blipping recommended.

For seamless shifts, I find the following to be helpful.

On 998 Rotax: 4500 - 5500 rpms when punching the shift button. Experiment on what the exact sweet spot is on your machine. 5000 does it well on our 2011.

On 1330 Three Cylinder: 3000 - 3500 is the sweet spot on mine. I do not use the Eco Mode. The shift suggestions are lower there.

We let the computer do the downshifting on both.

'Tis not to blip - but - if you'll ease off the throttle just a little (if you're not in a hurry) the shift will be a whole lot smoother.

THANKS, will try to follow your advise...

Don't blip and quickly shift with your thumb. You don't take your foot off the pedal when your automatic shifts your car so don't do it with the SE. It's not a habit hard to break, it's one you should never get into with the SE.

BLIPPING BALONEY

I have Drag Raced with two Spyders an RT and an RSS , both semi-auto's....( got a 1 st place with the RSS ) and forget the Blipping thing.............FULL throttle all the way, no backing off EVER...........( right Joy  )...............Blipping is a Harley thing anyway :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:......Mike

I blip riding 2 up and make it like a CVT for my wife. There is no "need" but I like to make it an unnoticeable seamless shift. The lower the acceleration rate the smaller the blip. Old habits die hard.

Rode a SE once, didn't blip it and it was fun!

As for the drags, the race is won in the first 60 feet. You beat me out the gate, but I was gaining on you at the end.

Depends..!

manual or semi automatic..?? I have the manual and do in some instances mostly on down shifts. Up shifts depends on weather I use the clutch or not. The semi I am not familiar with but know they have shifting problems when you back off the throttle while shifting...:dontknow:
