• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CAR TIRE

ANY CAR TIRES of the appropriate size will do... DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU MUST USE 'KENDA' TIRES....
hundreds if not thousands of us SPYD3R riders now use a wide range of car tires... my SPYD3R has KUMHO's all around, and i have over 40,000 miles with these tires with ZERO issues....
so shop around, and get your best deal.... also, search this website for talk on tires... you will learn a lot....
good luck, ride safely...

Car tires will be fine. Many threads on here about that. I have car tires on my RT 185/65/14 on front and 215/60/15 on the rear.

Many do...!!

most car tire shops can but the issue some times is the removal and installation of the rear tire. If you take the wheels in no problem. Now balance is also a bit of a problem as not all shops have the spindles needed but can balance statically...as for tires...I'm not even going there...

I have changed motorcycle tires in my home garage for many years using a Harbor Freight tire changer and a Harbor freight static balancer. I plan to use the same two items to change the tires on my spyder.

oem tire numbers

I found this very helpfull someone posted the part #s for oem tires based on compounds

705501604 softer

705501464 harder if getting the oem make sure its the harder one:yes::yes::yes:

I have been able to get 21000 out of the original its a little thin now

My can am dealer said they would not install any other tires. Which i thought was odd since they said they would change out the swaybar for me ($145)
im uncertain what to do when i am ready for new tires. Id like to put on michellin but im certainly not in a position to remove the wheels and bring them in. And im not sure about a regular tire show balancing or being able to remove the rear wheel at all. If anyone in socal has any suggestions of who is capable of putting on tires other than the kenda let me know.

My can am dealer said they would not install any other tires. .

IMO since dealers always charge for their time, refusing to allow you to find better tires or a better deal is reason to avoid them for any other work too. I met a long time Spyder owner here that takes his bike 225 miles to another dealer as "our" dealer has ripped him off. I'm a new owner so have no experience with this dealer. I think any major tire store could mount your tires and balance them. You can find videos here on how to remove your wheels.

I have taken my 09 rs to Belle Tire. Any car tire place can do your front tires and balance. they charged me $60 to replace and balance. My rear I took to a can am dealer after trying a Honda and Harley dealer apparently the rear tire is to big for the motorcycle dealers and the car tire dealers don't have balance capability for the rear rim... I agree that if the can am dealer will only put on there tire they are not worth dealing with. I bought all of my tires through a Can am dealer on eBay "leaders marine k-zoo MI" next round of tires will be car tires. Hope this helps.

Sempert out,
