There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tires....a.g.a.i.n

APPRECIATION

I don't have a dog in this fight. Don't know what was said, or to whom. Don't know either of you. Mike is an ok guy. Helped me out without being asked. nojoke I also know that Lamont won't stand for any :cus:. This is an awesome site, and resource for Spyders. If you have a problem with someone, take it to pm's. Tom :trike:

....Thanks ....:2excited:......Mike

Thanks Mike. I had a feeling that a regular tire shop could get it done. I'm going to stop by my local Costco this week just to see what they have that fits the 2014 RT. I'm only around 3K on the odometer right now, and the rear tire still looks fine, but I want to know what my options are long before that time comes.

LOOK HERE FIRST ----FOR RESEARCH

...I don't advise buying from them ( pricey because of shipping unless they have a warehouse very near you ).....But the TIRE RACK.COM IS A FANTASTIC SOURCE FOR ACCURATE INFO.....They have lots of different manufacturers so the choices are more. and it's so simple ....just type in the exact size you want and they will list EVERY Tire they sell that size by every maker.....Then you can make a slight change if you can't find anything and try again.....annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd they are TIRE SAVVY unlike the vast majority of so called TIRE " SALES PERSONS "....they are likely to sell you ANYTHING ......They get a commision and may not work there next week.......Please check out TIRE RACK FIRST......It's free....Mike

If your just working with the fronts save yourself a TON of time and aggravation by taking the wheels off and taking them in loose. When they ask you, tell them the wheels are off of a SMART car.

Many shops get twitchy if you mention the spyder....

The rear wheel can be trickier to find a shop to do. However, it can be done on all the same tire equipment as the fronts. When we did ours we stripped everything off the wheel that we could and the shop had no issues mounting and balancing.

Almost 3,000 views--nobody went back!

Almost 3,000 views and 66 posts and the only people who went back to MC tires are when they had to because of unplanned tire failure while away from home.

WOW WHAT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! I never expected a response even similar to this! WOW!

Tires and sizes

I haven't yet changed tires on my Spyder RT Ltd would like to know brand and size used for front and rear as my rear is getting worn. When I had a Goldwing I put a Kumho RF on the rear and was happy. The Spyder doesn't lean so a ct should be a better choice for those that want it. As far as balancing a tire I used Dynabeads and had no issues for the 50K+ miles I used them. Thanks for listening Randy

What size fits 1330 Front Fenders without mods?

Have not been satisfied with Kenda's, front or rear, and plan
to replace the fronts shortly. What size/s will work without having to do any mods to fenders?

Had planned to wait and have rear and fronts done at same time but the fronts, even after Road Force balancing and two lazer alignments are lapping out and occasionally a very slight shimmy. I believe they are inferior tires. Cheaper to replace than keep throwing money at alignments and balancing.

We went with the Federal tire and it seems to work much better than the Krapenda. Its still a Chinese tire so don't expect miracles but they balanced easily and ride very smooth. They are physically wider than the stock tires but fit fine under the fenders.

THIS SIZE

Any 175/65-15,,, for the 14 RT or F-3 should fit fine ........General makes an Altimax in this size to match the rear if you have that.........They also have a Yoko Avid in 175/60-15......and a Hankook Ventus V-4 ES H 105 in 175/55-15........see the specs at the TIRERACK.COM......Mike

And you've got the new style fenders...
Mike,
Have you checked to see if the larger tires will fit under them?
(Will your front tires fit under Dee's front fenders?)

I wish I knew what it is that gets so many people offering their 2 cents about this or that choice of tire.
I think the subject of tire choice on this forum is entirely subjective, meaning everybody's opinion is only that, an opinion.
It would be better if tire choice was based on a scientific assessment, but it is what it is, just one guy's point of view butting up against another.
My Spyder RT's wheels go round and round and I refuse to beat myself up worrying about side wall stiffness and the number of plies in my tires.
I already have a life, thank you, I'm not looking for yet another way to uselessly waste my time.
Seems to me tires are a specialist subject and not being a specialist I'll happily stick with BRP and the Kendas.

Unless, of course. somebody out there REALLY knows of a better tire? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Why then are you "uselessly wasting your time" replying to these posts? :dontknow::dontknow:

Now that the issue of, "What type of wheel is on the Spyder?" has been resolved; the waters will appear even murkier!
(It's an automotive style...)

I have not replied to this thread before now as I have not gone back to the factory tire.

I will state that I will not ever go back unless I am forced to!
