• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tire Prices Have Gone Up

Last time I ordered a rear tire (Kumho Ecsta AST) from Discount Tire it was $83.00. I just checked and they have gone up to $93.00  I found one at discounttires.com for $70.00 plus $13.00 shipping. I've never ordered from them before but I'll give it a try to save $10.00 plus taxes. TireRack.com is $75.00 plus shipping.

01/04/13 Just an update and an FYI I ordered from discounttireS.com on 12/24 and I just received the tire today. I was worried when I went to check on the order status and I was redirected to Discount Tire Co. website. I was able to get a hold of discounttires.com by telephone and found out that they are now doing business as tirecrazy.com. The reason they gave for the delivery taking so long was that Kumho was shut down for the holiday. The tire shipped from Los Angeles yesterday and I received it today. I would have felt better if they had sent me an email saying hey we changed our name but everything is okay and I would buy from them again.

If you go to the local Discount Tire and tell them the online price, they will match it. At least they did for me.
Merry Christmas to you and Joe.

KUMHO

my KUMHO cost me $61, i told BIG BIRD about it and he bought one, and in just under a year, it had gone up to $72... since tires are produced from 'petroleum', prices have gone sky high.... just hold your nose and pay the price.... ain't much we can do to change anything...
(we had our chance this past November 6th, and we blew it).... :banghead:

I thought about doing that but ordering online I can skip the sales tax.

Maybe this is only true for Texas, but if I order something on-line from a company which has a physical presence in Texas I have to pay sales tax. So if I ordered a tire on-line from Discount Tire I would have to pay Texas sales tax since there are many Discount Tire stores in Texas. Is that not true in other states?

It is true here in Florida. If there is a physical store here you will at least have to pay the 6% state sales tax.

The BPR Fronts went from $75 to $99???
The BRP Rear went from $150 to $199???
Whats up with that BRP????

It is true about the physical presence and paying sales tax but I ordered from discounttires.com which is not Discount Tire hence no sales tax .
