There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tire pressure Kumho

Does anyone know what tire pressure for a Kumho on the rear of a Spyder RTS. I had my dealer mount a Kumho on the rear of my Spyder last month and the dealer set the pressure at 28 psi. I can see that I'm experiencing more tire wear on the outside edges of the tire. I think the pressure needs to be increased but don't know by how much.
My wife and I weigh weigh 320 lbs together and the temperature here is normally in the high 80's.

That doesn't sound right! Unless you've put on a huge # of miles. I've got about 7000 miles on my Nitto on the rear (26 psi) and it shows no wear. Keep in mind I burned the factory tire off at 5-6K miles just riding the curvy mountain roads here. No burnouts. Maybe it requires extra pressure because of the weight. If it was over inflated it would wear in the center.:dontknow:

I ride everyday about 60 miles

I am looking at a difference in color across the tire and on each side for about 1 inch the tire looks bright and shiny as if more contact and tire wear are on the edges.

Try it elsewhere if you like. There are no hard and fast rules, as long as you are within the pressure ratings of the tire. Put in a couple more pounds, ride a week, and look again. If you don't like what you see, do it another time...or two...or three.

Ratings..!!

You have a max min on the tire although designed for 2 ton car and you have it on a 900 lb bike. You really have to find the best pressure like Scotty said a bit at a time. Mushy soft with edge wear to hard and bouncy with wear in the middle...:roflblack: You will find it...!!

Sounds like with tire wear on the outside edges u may have underinflation u should see a flat wear pattern across the center of your tire.

When we stay out of the OEM we tend to wonder the difference. Car tires are for cars and tested for cars not for:spyder2:.

CAULK

put your SPYD3R on a clean flat surface... then take your grand-daughters caulk, and drag it across the tire, side-2-side... mount your bike, both of you, and very slowly ride whatever length it takes to rub the caulk on the pavement.... dismount and notice where the majority of the caulk came off of the tire... if it's in the middle, the tire has too much PSI (BALLOONING)... if the caulk is removed from the edges, too low of a PSI... your perfect PSI will be when the caulk is removed from the tire evenly....

:lecturef_smilie: but remember, if you ride alone, this will change...
good luck...

i ride alone, and have the KUMHO AST on the back, i'm 260 lbs, and run 28 PSI without any issues...

Kumho

I have a kumho and the pressure is 28. But remember that the pressure will increase with riding and outside temp.
At 70 outsude temp mine increased 3 lbs.

I was the problem

The tire pressure is ok. I thought the shiny 1 inch on each side was tire wear, but it is lack of wear. This 1 inch edge is where the tire begins to curve upward to the side wall, so my mistake.
Thanks for the help, it looks like I'm good to go at 28 psi.
