Tire needed?

Here's a couple pics of my rear tire. I have just over 7000 miles on it and plan about another 1000 by the end of October. Do you think I should go ahead a beta new one?

JMHO but you need a new tire now rather than later. I would be worry riding in the rain and hydroplaning. That's just me better safe than sorry my tire looked like mine at just over 12,000 miles this spring and I got a new tire put on just before our week long tour.

Huh?

What tire? That is nothing but "wish tire". You WISH it was a tire. You are living dangerously on borrowed time. A blow out wouldn't be much fun on a Spyder..

It does not look very pretty. I am at 8,700 on mine and it looks pretty much the same. I still note that the wear bars are about a quarter (the coin) distance from the bald spot, so am thinking that I can tough it out until end of riding season or 10,000 miles. I have a feeling that end of riding season will be first.

Meanwhile, I try to make sure I am not running over any road obstacles (sharp rocks, etc) with the rear tire.:pray:

EDIT--EDIT--EDIT My bad, bad advice from a cheapskate. The sane ones are even winning me over.

Ignore my post and buy the tire--and be safe. :2thumbs:

:lecturef_smilie: NOW; not later...

Please? :D
Once that center section starts to looking like the one that you're on; that tire will start hydroplaning on a damp day... :yikes: nojoke

You can order/have rear tire mounted for $8 at local Discount Tire store.
Just need to remove rear wheel & brake disc for them to mount Kumho tire.
Add 16 oz Ride-On to rear tire.
Have a safe ryde to Lamonster BBQ.

I'll see if I can get one soon and maybe take it to Springfield with me and ask PitBull's to install it.

Thanks.

EDIT: Or have it installed here, if the local HD dealer will do it.

Buy a tire right now or invest in some good walking shoes. Your definitely going to need one or the other soon.

Too much Air

And don't run so much air in the new one! I'm running 22lb and keeping close measurements across the tread. With nearly 5K I still have lots of tread evenly all across. :)

Yep! Agree 100% with the majority....you need a tire like asap!
I would also suggest a few pounds less pressure in the replacement.

PS. In the UK I would be fined and penalised if the police caught me using
a tire that badly worn.

Let's not assume she's running too much pressure. Running proper air pressure can still cause wear like that.
