Tire fit question SOOO SORRY

So sorry to bring this up. I have read all 1023 posts about tires until I am worn out. I have a 2008 GS with stock 165/65 14 tires on board. They seem to be a hard size to get.The only thing they seem to fit is a Honda Insight. I know it is a tight fit so I don't want to buy willie-nilly,but what size FRONT tires will fit. ?185/65****175/70***or what... Again thanks and I promise not to ask what brand of tire shine skould I get at Pep Boys

Thats the same size as The RT's use and many RT owners have gone with 175-65-14 and say its fits the fenders without any mods. A good tire to look at is the General Altimax. Thats the one I'll buy when I need tires. Check Tirebuyer.com...$62 ea last time I looked.

Hopefully some RS owners will chime in here shortly.

You will get many different answers and they'll all be right, so just pick one & go with it. I just put on Kumho solus Kr21's P175/65R14 on my 2012 RTS & they work great. They are just à hair bigger but still have plenty of clearance on the fenders. Good Luck!

FRONT TIRE

This is a " V " rated tire that has the widest footprint that will fit inside the front fenders and will not upset the " Nanny ", Yokohama " S " drive 185/55-14_80v.......according to the tire rack it has great road holding wet and dry ,long wearing ,good warranty ...and if you shop around I think you could get it for about $80 each......................Yokohama is the only company that makes this size.....but the circumference is very, very close to OEM specs and this is the measurement that counts ............Forget the printed size on the tire , they all vary from company to company and tire to tire......it's the circumference that counts .............God Luck, Mike :thumbup:

Bridgestone Potenza comes in the OEM size; and folks seem to have good experiences with it too!
I'm sorry; but a lot of folks like to play with the tire sizes,,, and the computers on the bike are set up for the 165/65 R-14 sizes... :shocked:
But that's just me...

I'm running 185/60/14's. You have to do a bit of work on the fender brackets but it's pretty easily done. I'd say that's about as big as you can go without redesigning the fenders altogether.

There's about a 3/10ths of an inch difference in the radius of those tires... :dontknow:

Divide by Pi

Divide the circumference by Pi to get the outside diameter. Circumference is the girth measurement around the outside of a circle, kind of like measuring your waist with a tape measure. Radius is half the diameter. You could measure unmounted tires with a tape measure and calculate the radius that way.

Height likely wont be an issue as the 185-60-14 isn't really much taller. It looks like tread width might be a larger concern with the newer fenders. They hug the tire a lot more than the older style fenders.

Thanks Bob, but its going to be close to the point where its going to need to be test fit to find out for sure.

Or, when it comes time just do a complete 15" tire/wheel change....blah...
