• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tire failure

Anyone ever had a front tire fail or blowout at cruising speed?
What happens?

"What happens?" So many variables to that question. Riders experience level, road condition, traffic, weather, and LUCK just to name a few. Hope it HAS NOT and DOES NOT happen to anyone.

Blowout

I was ryding thur Texarkana and hit a piece of metal in the high speed lane with trucks in front of me and one on the right lane and I saw the object and decided to not make any sudden moves to miss it, and I knew that it was not going to be a good outcome so I rode it out and slowed down and let the right lane clear and put on the turn signal and made it off the road with no problems. The bike stayed straight and no problems at all. when I slowed down the bikes steering was still under control even with the blown tire.. I drove slowly till I got to the exit and made it to the flying J truck stop and call the Best warrenty and had it towed in. $80.00 for the tire and $100.. labor. It handled great IMO>

Blowout's are rare, So Thats not very big on my worry list; That said, The first and last one i had was in 1965 [Olds 442] Scary but manageable.
I did have a fast air loss on my VTX1800 at 55/60 mph rear tire, Felt like if i hit the rear brake hard, and did a little wiggle. I just eased off the throttle [not chopped] let the bike slow down with no hard braking and pulled off to the side of the road.
