• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. tire balancing

Good morning all. I bought a 2014 rts on Feb 1st. Brought it home on the 7th. Not new to motorcycles at all. Have had numerous and presently have 7... 2wheelers , 1 trike and spyder. I have always been told that the red dot on the tire is to be aligned with the valve stem.........my tires on the spyder are not even close. I will use a clock system to explain, with the valve stem always at the 6 oclock.

Left front:
the red dot is at 3oclock. I have 4 weights on it

Right front:
Red dot is at 9 oclock with 14 ( yes 14 ) weights on it

Rear :

red dot at 230. and I have 5 weights

I am concerned about the tires and also the number of weights. Am I out of line? Does BRP have a differant believe in how tires are to be mounted and balanced? Is this something I should be worried about? I am not a mechanic by NO means. Please educate me on this matter.

Thanks in advance for every reply I get

You are correct about the tire mounting. It is not as important with alloy rims as with stamped steel wheels, but it is supposed to be done. There is a good explanation here. There seems to be a lot of this going on with the BRP mounting. I don't expect your dealer will be willing to address it unless you have problems. I would not worry about it unless you have problems. It might decrease the number of weights needed, but is unlikely to change the performance if the wheels were properly balanced.

what to do?

Have them corrected and pour some fishing weights with all the lead you get back :joke:

Fair deal

Took my fronts to the local tire shop for balancing. They checked for proper fit on their machine. All was OK.

For a one time charge of 25 bucks. I now have a lifetime balancing contract. Every 5K, or sooner if needed.

More than fair. Considering the dealer wants 45 bucks each time they need balancing.

Correct..!!

You are. But they don't seen to follow this. If your roadster is running fine I would leave it be. When you change the tires make sure the line them up..
