When I first got my Can Am Spyder it had 10,000 miles on it. A 2015 RT Roadster. The rear tire had been replaced which I plan to switch to a car tire but it has some tread left. I did notice the front tires needed balance. I purchased the beads and put in both front tires but did not notice much difference. Today I removed the tires from the wheels and found inside the tires seemed sticky not where anyone had put anything in them. The rubber was tacky and the beads just stuck in in the tires and where not doing anything. I replace the valve stems with new steel ones so I can use my Doran tire pressure monitoring system. I remounted them and took the tires to a tire automotive shop and they balance them. Did it ever make a difference. I did not realize they were out of balance that much. I just hope when I change my rear tire I can get it balance. I am not sure their machine will balance the rear. Does anyone know the exact diameter of the rear axle shaft? I need this to make a shaft for my tire changer to go through the rear wheel. Next spring I will replace all the tires with cars tires and put the belt tension er on. Is the belt tension er worth the money? I don't notice much vibration but it may be like the front tires maybe I get a little and don't notice it that much. Thanks for any replies.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I had a Yokohama tire put on the rear by a tire dealer but had to take it to a motorcycle shop to get it spin balanced.
Thanks, that is what I was afraid of. I don't know what the hole size is in the rear wheel is.

I don't know the size other than to say it's too small for car tire balancers.
It's gonna be the same size as the OD of the axle tube, so pop the LH dust cover & measure, it shouldn't be too hard to get a useful measurement. 
Those tire mobs who only ever do fitting & balancing for just the 'common' cars out there probably won't have the right sized spindle, but most 'specialist tire' or places that handle fitting & balancing race tires for anyone (or places that run their own race cars, esp open wheelers, what we'd call Formula Vee or Formula Ford) will be far more likely to have the correct spindle & probably better balancing & tire tru'ing gear too! :thumbup:

Twice now I've had the local tire shop change out the rear tire for my RT. I took the tire off the bike myself. Since their balancer couldn't handle the tire they put in commercial quality liquid tire balance which they use on truck and pickup tires. It has worked good for me. I've never felt any imbalance at all. I was skeptical about liquid balancing but since they use the stuff I figured it must work. It does.
I have one of Marc tire balance with the cones with bearings use on car jacks stands.Will it work?

I used Ride On in my tires and found that it solidified and caused the front tires to be unbalanced. It took me quite a while to figure out the cause since others had good experiences with it and recommended it.
I wonder how ride on can be affected by the quantity and quality of the various bead lubricants that some of the less desirable tire techs use. I've seen them use dish soap, car wash etc. to lube the beads before mounting. I've seen them use way too much of the wrong stuff also. I can't imagine a half pint of Dawn dish soap and ride on, or balance beads are going to perform very well.
I am like you.I did use the beads in my Goldwing and I thought they helped. In them tires they didn't stick together like these tires. But I wander if they do anything.

You could just use the rear axle, 2 jack stands and some stick on weights. You could also get the Centramatic balancers from Lamonster.

I am going to try my Marc Balance er it worked great on BMW & Goldwing tires. I just did not know if this type of balance er worked. It is like the Harbor Freight balance er. On my Goldwing F6B I had the Centramatic disc balance er on front & rear and I think they were doing the job. I will have my front balance at a tire shop. I wander if you can just purchase the rear Centramatic for the Spyder? I see they sell them as a set.

I Didn't balance my last three Rear Tires ( car tires ) ..... I haven't noticed any difference in feel or wear on the rear tires ...... Mike :thumbup:

I didn’t balance my car tyre either, Gerald, and I had the same result as Mike. I have bought one of Lamont’s Balancers that I will put on next time the rear wheel has to come off (just to see if it makes a difference, but I don’t think it will). My tyre guys asked me not to use Ride On for the reasons given earlier in the thread. I know it works for many, but I’m quite happy to go with their recommendations.:thumbup:

3 WAYS TO BUY THEM. as a front set of 2, just rear, or set of 3
I have not did anything yet to my rear tire and it seems real smooth. It does not have a car tire on as yet.
Thanks I might just purchase one for the rear. I don't know how good they work. I used them on my Goldwing F6B and it seem real smooth. I found out the beads did no work in the front tires. Do you feel the Centramatic work well?
