If it wasn't reported to the insurance company or taken to a repair shop it won't be on car fax as an indecent.
Then you have to look at the location of the owner and see if the owner lived in a flooded area.

Caveat Emptor. This happens every time there is a major flood. They can clean them up pretty--but your asking for internal rust and most likely electrical issues down the line. There are always crooks when it comes to used cars--and now--the possibility of new. The brokers will look for these and send them all over to unsuspecting and even knowledgeable dealers. It's all about the profit margin to some.

If (and that's a BIG IF) the restoration is done correctly a flood car can be a good buy. Back in 1987 we purchased a flood car from a salvage yard who had purchased a Ford dealers entire inventory and they reconditioned all the new cars and sold them at 30% off sticker with a two year warranty. Ran that car for over ten years and 200,000 miles. One of the best cars we owned.

I read an article where after Hurricane Sandy flooded cars were shipped to other states, registered, and then shipped to another state. Thus when a person researched the prior location is showed different location. Just goes to show when it comes to making money people will do almost anything.
