• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

JUST SO EVERYONE IS AWARE THE POST IS NOW IN THE NEW YORK SECTION. WE ARE STILL MEETING ON THE 18TH OF THIS MONTH. 16 SPYDERS ARE CONFIRMED AS OF TODAY.

I will be posting the complete meeting spot, brunch location and times for next saturday, later this evening. I do need a count of participants to see if we are still on. I will post at 7:30 tonight.

Times Square Itenarary

OK EXACTLY 1 WEEK AWAY:clap:FOR OUR TIMES SQUARE:spyder:MEET.
-Meet at 12pm on saturday the 18th in the parking lot of the outback steakhouse in Brooklyn, N.Y. (1475 86th st bklyn, ny 11228)for a delicious brunch at 1pm. We can also meet/greet and get to know each other inside while our spyders get cozy in the provided parking lot.(I was able to reserve a dedicated room for us in the restaurant)
-At 2pm we will then proceed for a pleasent 30min ride crossing the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan and arriving at our destination Times Square.
-We will be taking lots of photos throughout the day, so have your cameras fully charged up. Not to mention we will be like rockstars for the entire day.
-sorry but the police escort was not able to be arranged.
-any question you can post or call me 631-662-8822
-I chose Brooklyn as the meeting place due to parking issues in manhattan and it is also convienant to all pkwys, tunnels, bridges.
-NOTHING SET IN STONE SO YOUR SUGGESTIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS PER EVERYONE COMING FROM FAR AND LOCAL PLACES TO MEET.

I am working on the details of 5 of us coming from upstate NY.....going to be a 500 mile round trip ride for the day....deciding on if we should get a hotel room for the night.

ok, let me know I can get some rates for you. I would not recommend staying in manhattan due to pricing and parking.

We stayed at the Waldorf the one time we went to Manhatten. It was a pretty nice hotel. A notch or two better than a Motel 6. :D

The only thing I am worried about is having secure parking to park the spyder at while there....Also the wife may be coming along with my 2 1/2 year old son.....driving her SUV down so we can spend some time sight seeing together. My 11 year old daughter will be riding with me on the spyder....She has never been to NYC so she is excited.

Anyone know of a good hotel that might be outside the city that we wouldn't have to worry about parking 3 spyders overnight?

Spyder-dude, When I went back to New York last year with a girl friend and her daughter we stayed at the Marriott at LaGuardia. You could park in secure parking for the hotel that way or even airport parking. While you are not using your spyder you can buy a $7.00 all day transit pass. We took the bus from the airport and then used the subways, trains and buses all day long to get all over Manhattan, it was very fun.

she hit it on the nose, mariott laguardia will park your bikes right in the enclosed circle, it is also easy to get to brooklyn and manhattan from there.

18th? What was the meet w/ your other post? Dammit - I can't make that date either. Hopefully someday before it snows.

When ever I'm in NYC I stay at the Best Western Presidents Hotel. It's on W. 48th St between 8th & Broadway. It's in the heart of the theater district and at the beginning of Times Square. There is parking on the next block north on 8th & 49th. It's inside and secure and the hotel has a deal with them. Just a thought.
