• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Time to replace battery?

Some won't agree, but I replace my batteries every three years....good or bad. I sometimes ride in west Texas where there is no cell service and remote....if my battery goes down, I could be in deep trouble. I feel the money is well spent.

:spyder2:

Nothing wrong with that choice or reasoning better safe than sorry

Does anyone know the difference between the Yuasa YTX24HL and the YTX24HL-BS?

The YTX24HL is stock but when I search for it online it seems to cross reference to the YTX24HL-BS. This just a new model number? Will it work?

The BS stands for bottle stock. This is a dry charge battery that comes with a bottle of acid and instructions on adding the solution. I think you can get it already to go from BatteryStuff.com. Braille is also an American made battery that has a two year warranty and comes ready to install.

Great info bruiser!. IMHO- I'd avoid the BS battery. While the caps are supposed to seal, it would just make me nervous with the battery on its side and a potential leak at the caps.

do they still have the two year warranty? if so, i would go for it. that's where i'll be getting my next battery.

Just did a bit of reading and the xtreme permaseal batteries don't seem to do all that great. Lots of reading on short life. However, batteries plus does seem to stand behind them. Take it for what it's worth I guess....I'd still stay away from a battery that has removable caps of any kind. Permaseal sounds good though!...haha

I'm a pretty big Deka fanboy. Most times when it's coming time for a new battery I drive to the factory in PA and just swap one out right there. They also sell "seconds" or "blems" where the case might be a bit scuffed up or have a crooked sticker...lol. these have always worked very well in the past too and are priced right.

Managed to get to Batteries plus today. The Xtreme battery has a 1yr warranty and apparently comes to them without the acid. They add it there then put it on the shelf. It it actually cheaper in the store than on their site at $79.99

They have this option also:
http://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...129567-Can--Am/Spyder/990CC-2008-to-2012.aspx

2yr warranty and comes sealed from factory. Made in the USA!!! Including the $10 rebate on it, it will be $109.

Only differences I noticed are that the CCA is higher on the Xtreme (by 30) but the Duracell is sealed from factory and Made it USA

What do you guys think?

Only $30 more, sealed, and double warranty? IMHO, that's a no brainer.... Don't over think the CCA for our application.

Good point. Was kinda starting to think I would be paying mainly for the name but another year warranty is nice!
