• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Time for Experts - Spyder Won't Start

While getting ready for Maggie Valley, I needed to back the Spyder up in my garage where it's been resting since returning from a rather lengthy trip one week ago. She won't start - she just sits there turning over and over (battery is good). Kill switch is in the on position, gas tank if full (last stop before ending ride). Spyder was washed, so she should be happy, and softly tucked into her storage place in the garage. One week later and she wants to treat me like this. Any ideas? I'd hate to miss Maggie Valley and all of you. ...Gnirtsnod (the G is silent)

I'm no expert but ...

Try the WOT (Wide Open Throttle) procedure.

Drowned Mode (Flooded Engine) If engine is fuel-flooded and does not start, this special mode can be activated to prevent fuel injection and ignition while cranking.

Proceed as follows to activate it.

With ignition switch turned ON while engine is stopped, twist and HOLD throttle at WOT position. Press the start button and hold to crank engine. The mode is now on. Releasing throttle will bring back the normal mode

:agree: with the totality of his post........especially the I'm no expert part. < meaning me.

No, you are the expert. It worked. Thank you.

Never happened before but I now I know what to do. This forum is great!

"Nirt", ;)
Were you smelling fuel during all of this?
The smell of raw gas is usually a pretty good indicator that it's flooded and the "Plan B" starting method will have to be implemented...
Glad that Roger got you running!

Thank you Roger for the helpful hint. I will try that the next time the :spyder2: gets finiky about starting.

Sorry to get back to you all so late. As much as I'd like to tell you that I was out riding, I wasn't. Trimming bushes and cutting grass has taken over my weekend after being gone for much of the last two...!

To answer Bob's question, I was not aware if I rolled on the throttle before hitting the start button; however, I did take my finger off the button too soon when I thought she was going to start. After trying to start it the second time, I smelled gas. That's when I screamed for help. WOT was the ticket. Thanks again to all. ...Gnirtsnod (full name is Dleif Gnirtsnod - it's Scandenavian)

WOT won't work for me?

Had spyder out 2 weeks ago no issues..... for once, parked and went out on Sunday and would not start, tried again today after sitting for 2 days and still won't start, tried WOT and nothing. Why would it just die like this? I smell gas like it's flooding, makes no sense??
