• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Time for brakes on my 2014 RT - any tips or recommendations?

2dogs is in the bull's-eye! Get EBC fully sintered pads and, if you're willing to accept the price, purchase EBC rotors. Then, if you follow Ron's instructions on bedding in the pads, the brake system will stop you like the Hand of God!

I’m trying a different pad this time, as I think the EBC pads grab more and create more friction so that they wear faster. I also noticed they rough up the rotor quickly. I ordered a carbon fiber LeFossi set for $75 front and rear, and I’ll review.

Carbon fiber is just a fancy way of saying 'Organic'. Everything is a tradeoff. Organic is kinder to your rotors, at the expense of stopping power and quicker fade.

I always ask customers. When you STOMP on your brake pedal because you REALLY want to stop, are you more concerned about how much you paid for your brake components? Wearing out your rotors? Or not hitting what is in front of you?

OEM BRP rotors are soft, so an aggressive pad will leave marks. But in all my years, I've never had to replace a Spyder rotor because it wore out, regardless of the pad used. Destroyed with metal on metal contact, or warped, yes. But not with simple wear.

EBC rotors are much harder then OEM. They not only resist wear from aggressive pads. They also offer better warp resistance and increase stopping power by 20% because of the metal compounds used.

Most are fine with EBC pads and stock rotors. But if you ever have need of replacement discs, go with EBC. They are worth the cost.

My front rotors have a slight lip on the edge, is it time to replace? My pads are down to 1mm, so those are definitely getting replaced.

if you have a service manual, there would be a service minimum level on rotors. I don't know what it is, but if anybody can look it up, then Chebber could measure them with micrometer or dial calipers away from the edge
