• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Throttle body

Well after being in the shop 4 weeks, they finally got the right diagnostic machine, and it shows the throttle body is bad...so a new one coming from the factory. I asked what would make it go bad as I only had 1000 miles on it in 3 weeks and rode carefully. They did not know and said that the factory would tell them. I am a rider that will ride over a 1000 miles a month and am concerned about my 2012 RT-SE5 cutting out on me when I am waaaayyyyy off. I have let the mechanic know how I ride so hopefully he will check for all things while in the garage.... Any one else have issues with the 2012 RT throttle body?????Thanks and ride safe! Very common, Hundreds have been changed, The must have gotten a bad bunch from their supplier. The dealer could have pulled up the codes with out the right machine, And once the code came up, Brp will tell the dealer to change it out for the new one... Once that's done your worries should be over..
But Maybe a new servicing dealer in order..:dontknow:

Too many have had TB issues. Seems BRP had a good run of bad ones. Some have had them fail several times, before finally resolved. I think for the most part they have figured things out and no issues after. I was actually kinda excited when mine went. It was acting up now and again with no codes, so when it threw a fit in my driveway I figured it was the bet scenario and had it replaced. Been running great since.

:agree: 2012's had (and there are probably some more) throttle body issues and gotten swapped out, a few machines even got it changed a few times. But like boborgera says, there have been good dealers that have had the issue resolved in a week. If your dealer took 4 weeks to hit that diagnostic (all they needed was B.U.D.S. and every BRP dealer has it), I would agree to start looking for another dealer, JMHO:lecturef_smilie:

don't sound like they had knowledgable mechs on hand you could of been back on the road within a week all they had to do was hook up the buds system and bingo theres the codes needed, sounds like they didnt have a laptop for buds,i'd be moving on to another dealer after this fix gets done. i think the tb problem was in the software they were using once that last update came out at last years owners event the tb problem has litterly gone away for the most part.i had a tb go at 1100mi but never had a problem since now i'm at 13k still no problems.so don't worry about the tb problem.

I am so glad my throttle body went out at spyderfest! 1 hour 15 minutes of down time! But yes the throttle bodies are a bit of a pain.

At this point..!!

be glad they have the problem and solution. Once out of there try a new place. Should never have taken that long to find the problem knowing of this ongoing issue. Ryde out ryde on and enjoy..!! :2thumbs:

I rode over 6000 miles in about 4 months with a bad throttle body. It is not always an issue that will leave you stranded if you know how to make it work for you. Getting it changed is the best thing to do, but I have no problem riding with one that has issues until the new one can be installed.

Great Dealer

Do not know where you are in NC...but great dealer in Madison TN..Americas motorsports..the Madison store. Missy/jimmy service mgrs. anyway when I was there for emergency service (locked in 3rd). He checked my Spyder for throttle body...said no reason not to be sure..now IMHO that's a great servicing dept. hope your issue is resolved soon...
As a side note Jimmy even called me today (I'm in pigeon forge tn) to make sure all is well with Ms Spyder...wow more gold star customer service...

Few, if any problems have been reported with the 2012 throttle body. Be sure the latest updates are installed for the computers, their old software probably prevented them from doing that before. While lots of 2011's had TB problems, and a number of 2010's (for different reasons), there are hundreds of 2012's running around that have had no issues. I'd let them fix it, then stop worrying.

After my 2011 has broken down for everything but the throttle body I am expecting that to go next. In the past 22 months I have been in for problems 11 times from 1 week to 1 month so I keep a contingency plan ready to go. Call a tow truck and grab a bus back home lol. I will be heading down to Reno at the end of the month so keep my fingers crossed...again....

Thanks for your encouragement as I have places to go and things to do on the Spyder...supposed to be in Myrtle Beach on Thursday ...

Deb, stopped by there today to get a part I ordered. Saw your Spyder sitting there along with 8 more waiting to be worked on. The conditions of some of those sitting out in the elements .
