There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Thought today was my day...

Finally back from a summer at Fort Lewis and today was the eagerly anticipated day that I'd finally get to ride my new Spyder. I've been busily jumping all the hurdles associated with buying a machine on eBay from an out of state dealer and then having it shipped from upstate New York to San Antonio. Everything was going great, and I was pleased to realize that the shipper was going to make it early. Even better, they were going to let me take it from the shipping dock today rather than wait to have it trans-loaded for home delivery on Tuesday.

So, I went expectantly down to YRC's local service center to get my new machine. Not so fast, GI!:cus: First indication that it was a bad day was that the foreman had noted some 'scratches' on the left fender. He missed similar scratches on the right fender, left cowl, and bent lower fascia, but that was all cosmetic, and could be made right in time. The absolute sad face was discovering that they'd shipped the key in the ignition! :hun: It quickly got worse, as the key was sheared off in the lock. My day now officially sucked.

I go back tomorrow to see who's making this right, and how long that process is likely to take. Not a happy camper.

That is bad. But if you ever come up to the Fort Hood area, lok me up and we will go for a ride and beverage. Hope you get it togetther soon.

Oh, man... that is not a good start. Hope everything is taken care of for you!

After a start like this it's all got to be gravy from here! Hope so.

Had my almost new, perfect Honda Valkyrie shipped from Pennsylvania to San Diego. They delivered it in a box truck with a lift gate. They didn't have a fork lift so the guy unstrapped it from the pallet and wheeled it out onto the lift gate. It looked pretty precarious but hey, they were the experts....

As soon as the other guy operated the lift gate the motion threw the guy holding my beautiful Emerald Green and Cream Valkyrie Tourer off balance.

The bike started to roll towards the edge and it was leaning away from the guy. He didn't even have his hand on the front brake lever!

I stood helpless and in horror as I watched it all in Slo-Mo! So close, and yet so far!

Somehow he was able to keep the bike on the lift gate and muscled it upright again.

My heart still beats a bit faster when I think about it.

Good luck with your Spyder. Hope it all works out for you.

What a bummer :gaah:,Hope you get it fixed soon, and be out ryding around...

Did you recieve your designs yet??? Mine is finished, just waiting for the sample pieces (making sure the color matches)

Well that sux big time. I hate to wait for things.
I only had to wait a couple of days to get my Spyder and I was climbing the walls.
Hope it goes good from here on. You and your Spyder will be cruising around in no time, I hope :doorag:

Thanks for the good karma! I got a call from the trucking company; they wanted me to come get it off their dock or let them ship it back (not a viable option), so I called the dealer who sold it to me. He suggested that the portion of the key that was in the ignition should allow the lock cylinder to turn, so if I could turn the switch to the 'on' position and keep the key head with the chip close to the ignition, it should work until I can get it repaired.

I went back to the loading dock, where the nice lady in the front office told me that she could have sold it several times that morning. We went out, discussed the claims process (just a hair over $1100), took some more photos of the damage, and I tried the broken key start. It worked!

Long story short, I affixed my license plate, taped the key over the ignition hole, drove the Spyder off the pallet and down the road. Gonna have to go back and get my car ... some day...

Not the best start ever, but one I'll take, now that I'm ryding! Tomorrow I'll take it down to South Texas Suzuki (closed on Mondays) and see how long/how expensive the repair will be.

Might have to leave work early today!

:gaah: I am glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction. Maybe our paths will cross one of these days in Texas. If you are ever near the D/FW area give me a shout and maybe we can grab some lunch and share :spyder:stories.

You must have used...

the same trucking company I used about 20 years ago. I had them ship all my house hold effects and somewhere in transit... they managed to drop the refrigerator on the washer and dryer. All were destroyed... must had dropped it from an airplane at angels 20.

Anyway this is why when I buy from someone in another state I get in my pickup and get the trailer and go get it my self. I know there are many out there that can't do that... that is what friends are for. I like to see the country and if a friend wants me to pick something up for them all they need to do is ask and pay for the gas and oil... and right now my vehicles do use any oil.

Hope everything works out for you. The trucking company only paid me about 50 percent for the damage.

I am sure your Spyder 'feels' the same way . . . . . . . .

Not the best start ever, but one I'll take, now that I'm ryding!

. . . . . . . what a great attitude!

At 60 years, I probably have seen a little more than you have. I does seem that at times, nothing good comes without a lot of hassle. And while you will look back and think it should not have been that hard, you will have every right to feel proud for making it all work out for the better.

Ride on and keep smiling.
