Thought I'd post this little problem

So I was driving along the other day and decided to pull in to a road side bikers cafe. Tried to start my RT up and no power. After tugging and pulling found the fault to be the ground post under the seat (RT-s 2010) was loose. Anyway after being told that you should never ever touch this this bolt because it's a dog to tighten up I decided the only way was for it to come out and replace it. Huuummmmmmm!


So after 3 mins, finally got this baby out,



Ended up drilling through the head of the bolt down onto the stud. Once through the head fell off and the stud fell through, easy, now to tap the frame with an 8mm bolt.

the problem was getting a grip on the nut on the back side. Hopefully what your tapping into is strong and deep enough for a good connection. This site is full of loose/faulty ground connection stories. Looks like it will work but check it often or it will let you know..:thumbup:

Yeah rule of thumb is the thickness needs to be the diameter of the bolt when tapping into metal and at first glance this looks to be good to go. Can am have increased the thicknes of the frame at this point so all is well. So many people have problems with this area and all because they use a bolt and not a threaded post.

So now im just tapping the hole with an 8mm tap


And now this bolt is tight. Job done.
