Thank you! And a salute is due as well. I apologize for questioning you ... you should have said something up front!
For the record, I've verified what you say and although the numbers may be a bit exaggerated, that doesn't make it right. This kind of thing irritates me as well. I would like to see the Constitution amended so that at least one parent has to be a citizen or legal immigrant before citizenship is conferred. And I'd like to see a rule that government benefits can't be sent overseas except those actually earned; e.g. Social Security. But I don't foresee either political party doing that. The GOP would be the most likely, except they seem to be unable to pass simple common sense things because they're too busy tacking on controversial stuff; e.g., we want to build the wall but if you want to support that, you also have to vote to completely change the legal immigration system. There's no connection between ILLEGALS and legals, so why are they lumped together into the same bill? It's like they're asking to fail and honestly I often think that's their intent. Another example is *****care; I totally agree it's terrible and should be repealed and replaced, but honestly, how could they not have another plan ready after all these years? And how could they come up with the votes to pass the tax cut but NOT to repeal *****care? Repealing *****care was what they campaigned on and finally they control everything and they STILL can't do it ... but they CAN pass a tax cut? Come on! If that isn't a deliberate fail, bite me.
About Filipinos, I have been married 32 years and know only a little of the language, only words I can pick up from listening to her speaking to friends and relatives. The minute you start speaking to a Filipino, they immediately answer in English! My wife learned English in school ***and their classes were also taught in English***. That would be the equivalent of me learning Algebra in Russian. And there are NO textbooks from English to Tagalog ... but thousands from Tagalog to English. Oddly, she has Filipina friends here in Vegas who come from other islands within the Philippines and they don't speak the same dialect -- and so the entire group ends up conversing in English!
