Thinking about tradeing up..

I have a 2009 red an black rs/gs... We have been thinking about getting a different bike for a more fomfort ride.. I am ok bt the better half doesnt like the way the seat sets.. She says it tilts her forward an make her butt go numb... Well today I was out rideing around an stopped at my local Can Am dealer to see what he had in stock.. There was nothing new on the showroom.. So as I was walking threw the show room I see one setting in the cornor.. I ask the salesman an he said that he was trying to sell it for someone.. He said it was the RT-s which is the loaded up one except for the electric shift... It is a 2010 with 2844 miles on it.. He told me that he sold the bike new for 26G.. The bikes NADA is now 24700.00.. What would be a good deal or should I say a good offer to make on this bike?? I wont say what they are asking for is but I will tell you that it is atleast 5g under book value.. So what woudl be a good price.. Keep in minf there is no flaws on the bike at all that I have seen...

If it is a 2010 RTS - SM5, it had an original MSRP of only $24,999, so it wouldn't be much of a deal, IMO.

I got a great deal on a new 2011 RT-S SE5 from my dealer in Minnesota. Traded in my 2008 GS SE5. List on the 2011 was under 25K at this dealer. NADA lists 2010 low retail $17185, average retail $22610. Hope this helps.

I will have to agree with Scotty. But the end result of a "good deal" is how one feels about the deal. There are dealers who tack on out of this world charges for dealer prep and freight. That doesn't reflect on this 2010 price, but IMO he is about $4000 overpriced. You are looking at Spyder that is used, though only slightly, it's still used. Take the MSRP, not the dealer selling price new, and subtract at least 20%. That will give you a price that you can negotiate from. If he doesn't want to deal, I would walk. On this Spyder, the owner is probably asking $18,000, so the added cost to you is a dealer net for doing a few sheets of paperwork.

You got it wrong on the NADA.. I looked it up myself an it is 24692.00.. Oh an it doesnt have a scratch on it an still under warrenty.. My bank even said that the loan value on it is over 24g so you know that the book value is atleast that....

I would shop around a bit, see what else is out there and what they need to get out of them . You have to think the 2012 will be out soon so that makes that bike almost 2 model years old. I think there should be a lot more wiggle room on that deal .

Do not add in the accessories such as ABS brakes, saddlebags, and cruise control, as the NADA mistakenly adds in ones that were already calculated in the price of the RTS model. Additional accessories should not be added either, IMO, as their resale value on almost all bikes is nil. Never pay over half for them...and only pay for the ones you would buy if you were adding them yourself.

In the end, the Spyder is worth whatever you want to pay. As long as you are satisfied, you have a good deal, but you can probably find a dealer somewhere willing to sell a new 2011 RTS for that same price.

I say keep the RS and just get Russell Day Long seat for it! :thumbup: If that's the only problem why not just fix the problem. You can do a lot more with the RS vs the RT and I think it's a better looking Spyder IMO. Of course I'm very biased but I really like my RS and would never trade it for an RT.

I agree about the looks.. It not only the seating postion.. We would like to go on some long trips on the bike an the rs just doesnt have the storage that the RT has.. Also I have a pinched nerve in my neck an after a while rideing my right arm an hand starts going numb.. So with all that being said that is the reason we were thinking of tradeing..

Dealer told me that there was a 1000.00 rebate on the 2011 bikes right now an a 1500.00 rebate on the 2010.. He has nothing in stock an there is no 2010 anywhere close to him... Another reason for me thinking about the the used bike is that I could get a tax credit when tradeing used for used an no credit tradeing used for new... I am thinking with it only haveing 2844 miles on it that it can be hurt.. I have a new 09 rs an we have had it for 4 months an already put 4600 miles on it.. The day it rolled off the dealer lot it had 12 miles..

Just found out that I can get a brand new 2011 for 20g plus the tax.. I think tha I am gonna go that route as it will have little to zero miles an I will get a full 2 year warrenty.. The only thing that I am haveing added is the rear speakers for 150.00....
