Just purchased a new Can-Am trailer for my 2013 Spyder RT Limited a few weeks ago while on a road trip in Colorado. Within one day the trailer lights were not working and we were long gone from the dealer where we purchased it. What had happened was that there was a recall on the defective trailer harness underneath the seat of the Can-Am of which I had not been made aware. The faulty harness ended up shorting out and also shorted out the trailer converter box. So I would highly suggest that you check with your dealer to make sure you have the updated trailer harness before you purchase and hook up a trailer. Maybe if I had purchased the trailer from the dealer I bought my Can-Am from they would have corrected the problem at the time they installed the hitch, etc....at least you would hope so. So, if you own a 2013 Spyder you should first check to make sure the harness has been replaced under the recall.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

There may be a service bulletin but not a recall. Recalls come from the NHTSA
Yes it is a 2013 but I don't know if that makes a difference.

Yours is not the first we have heard about problems with newly purchased trailer. For $4,500 I would be expecting better. :lecturef_smilie:

The problem is not with the trailer, but a wiring harness on the Spyder that includes the plug the trailer lights connect to. If his was like mine, his reverse actuator was out too because they both use the same fuse, which blows when the trailer is connected.

Any dealer can fix under the recall. So stop by any dealer to fix it...

Not anymore Mark. The 2013 wiring is different. Reverse actuator and trailer module are in different fuses now.
But it could still be a bad harness. I was affected with the SB on my 2010 RT, but not on my '13 that I am aware of...

It's not just trailers it's the dealers if you don't say anything about recalls to the dealer it seems dealers don't say any thing about recalls to you as the customer it's could be the bike or the trailer there is a disconnect between can am and the dealer thanks to the spyder web site to get the info so you can tell the dealer what's going on!

Correct, just picked up the new hitch kit and new trailer pigtail. Will check on the above recall/service bulletin tomorrow before installation.

If you have a 2013 hitch/harness with the square-4 plug and an earlier trailer with a round-9, you can just buy a square-4 connector and either replace the round-9 or splice in the square-4 so you retain both. All RT-622 trailers from 2011 on have only four wires, despite the plug. The 2010 trailers have more wires, but will work with just four. Just use the left/right brake light wires and forget about the turn signal wires.

Will be hooking up 2012 trailer to 2013 RTS SE5 Spyder next week. Just called BRP to check on recall/service bulletins for 2013 trailer harness for my spyder and was told there were non for the 2013 model. This is the harness I assume that is part of the spyder not the hitch or trailer. ???????? I have the Hitch Kit 219400432 and Hitch Pole Harness 710003227 (for the trailer) They are both square pole connections
