• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

 I'm sorry to hear that this happened... :gaah:
Your dealer should have been quite a bit more careful.
Still... :congrats: on the new bike! :2thumbs:
:nopic:

Bummer..!!

First of all congratulation on your new ryde. Sorry you had this happen though this has been a problem. Properly installed they should be solid if not they will fall off. There are some tips on avoiding this weather its customer or dealers error. This will pass and you will enjoy the ryde more and more...:gaah:

Right there with you bud. Day I drove my new 2013 home, the right mirror fell off. Dealer broke one of the mirror clips but could not bother to tell me or replace it. Just slapped it back on and delivered the bike. Dealer service went down hill from there.

Love the bike. Hate the dealer 'no-service' network.

:congrats: on the new ryde.:yes:

That said--It is a real bummer when you drive it off the lot and something goes wrong with it. I am still a proponent of a 10 mile or so dealer test ride after any PDI or other service. The dealers that break stuff and try to get away with it are a whole 'nother rant for me.

Re panels: I have got to the point where checking the side panels is a part of my everyday "start up" routine. I have caught loose panels both at home, and from pick up from the dealer after servicing. It shouldn't happen, but it does. :dontknow:

Sadly there are still dealers out there doing slopping work, especially on initial assembly, however the good news is that there are many more quality dealers doing it right than there were 5 years ago... I would be cautious if I were you certainly but I find it difficult to condemn someone over one mistake. Watch them closely and if this is indicative of their nature, then change dealers. A great dealer is worth riding for.. I know folks ride hundreds of miles to get to my dealer for service or touchy repairs

Sorry your side panel fell off, bummer. Put on cable thethers to keep new panel secure

Hopefully your dealer service will buy you a new side panel.
You can buy 1 foot long 1/16" cables (2 each); crimps; quick disconnect key holders, from ACE Hardware.
Build side panel thethers, thread cable inside BRP plastic emblem & crimp it on with visegrips; attach quick disconnect key holder to frame.
Here is a photo of 3 sets I made up for my Spyder RT riding friends.
Enjoy your new 2013 Spyder RT SM5!!

:congrats: on your new Spyder. I use "cable ties" on all the grommets to make sure they don't pop out - - if they do, your panel will come off for sure. Secondly, I use a carabiner with a fishing leader to attach the panel to the frame. A 6" steel leader works great and hangs the panel just off the ground. The carabiner allows you to remove it entirely if you want to.

Good luck with you new Spyder and post some pics for us. A good dealer should support you for this first failure of that panel popping off, especially if you just got it.

panels should not pop off if they are install correct yes? if that where the case BRP would be rich just from selling panels LOL

I know you are "very" mechanically minded/talented but you could have Bobskidoo give it a once over for peace of mind. I've found them very accommodating, extremely precise and thorough and very fair priced.

just a thought.
