• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The ultimate programable nanny

Got 6000 euros to spend?

Then you can have the ultimate programmable nanny
Our nanny ie traction control, abs, and brake bias is based on the Bosch system and you can buy a fully programmable system from Bosch motorsports it includes software to input wheel diameter and other vehicle parameters
Also included are two twelve position map switches one for abs map and one for tcs map there are nine standard maps two user programmable maps and a disable function

Most of the hardware is already mounted on our spyders you really only need the map switches and the secret sauce ( software ) to do the magic

I'm gonna call Bosch mtorsports and beg them to sell me just the mapping switches and the software. If they won't the I'm gonna have to brown bag my lunch and save my pennies

Doc if ur tuned in this is how make your spyder use all the power and traction you can throw at it
:2thumbs:

Down load the manual for it and compare the components to the ones in your shop manual under the vss system

Holy :cus: dude, this is outrageously cool! I'm not even sure it could be implemented on our rides short of a complete strip down, massive component changes and ALOT of patience. Then there is thw whole money thing! :roflblack:

But holy :cus: dude! Just imagine. There are no limits! 9 presets. All awsome. Unbelieveable stuff!

Nah all the components are the same I checked the part numbers just need to add the can bus mapping switches and get the software if they will do it the rest is already there

They say based on production components and they mean it

I'll have more I fo next week

We already have the pressure switches the level switches , the wheel speed sensors , ever wonder why there are two on the rear wheel, the yaw rate acceleration sensor , and the steering angle sensor, the ecu ( tcm or traction control module in BRP speak ) and hydraulic control unit is the same too just one of the rear brake ports is plugged

We just need the mapping switches and the special sauce downloaded into the traction control computer

I'll bet that all the software is already loaded in our spyder just needs some magic can bus commands to turn it on why support multiple versions of the software

Very true just variations on a theme I guess. I knew that our setup was an automotive application, but in reading the manual this beast appeared to be a full blown racing version that used components that were designed for much larger racing wheels, tires, rotors etc.

I will be very interested to see what you come up with!

There isn't that much more hydraulic pressure of volume to actuate racing calipers and the abs just modulates it

A lot of racing calipers can be used with stock master cylinders

Well I have to tell you I'm extremely intrigued! SO far the manual is a pretty good read...

If I'm reading correctly the software is free to download but you will need their MSA Box to talk to the unit to program it via laptop. I don't think you are uploading any software to the unit you are just adjusting the maps and adding your own maps. BRP has a custom map they have created and basically they just have one map and of course they didn't give us a switch. So you would have to wire the switch into the connector which is probably just a bunch of empty slots right now. It could work as long as the ECM only checks if the unit is there and does not look at other parameters of the unit. Otherwise you could throw a bunch of codes. So the software should be the same, I doubt BRP made and custom software they probably worked with Bosh to make a good map. BRP is known for taking parts off the shelves, they don't even make the BUDS software or the dongle which is actually a generic dongle anyone can buy.

This all stands to reason. We have a "dumbed down" version of the engine they run in the Aprilla, and we have a "dumbed down" version of The Nanny software as well. This would be a blast to experiment with, but of course extreme caution would need to be exercised as well.

The Nanny actually saved my butt on The Dragon this week, and I have quite a bit more respect for it now. If it hadn't helped, I would have definitely rolled my Spyder, as the left front came off the ground higher than I have ever had it before, and I actually felt the inertia begin a very bad body roll to the right. Just as the Nanny started doing its thing, I dove toward the left handlebar and rolled off the throttle, which landed that tire back on the pavement. That was a serious "Oh Crap!" moment for me.

aber hallo - would be enough to have the THREE presets like the new BMW 1600GT - using the same Bosch-VSS System like our spyders ...?

Hi Chris - You have a good point and your proposal sounds fairly practical. If I read the manual correctly they will ONLY sell you the entire M4 Kit system, including their harness, ECU, analysor, etc. I assume this comes with a port to install the software updates, though they state that the software comes preloaded. And I'm quite sure everything has to be installed in order for the system to work correctly.

I'm quite sure those three presets are far superior to what we have running in our ECUs right now!

You can't really watch anyone else running it, unless you happen to be behind them and they refuse to move over and let you by. :D However, the photos can speak volumes when you go to those sites and look at them. None of the photographers happened to be on the particular curve where my "moment" happened.

I also think it would be very interesting to have a 3 mode selectable set up for the Spyder based on what type of ryding you wanted to do at the time.

That's what I'm sayin, bro. I think Altonk is right, I think it's already in there. All they need to do is make it available to us. And what a feature upgrade THAT would be, at no cost to them at all!

I'm sure glad you recovered from your moment. I bet that was scary! We need you in one piece man! :D

Thanks, I would like to stay in one piece as well.

As an example of suspension issues, check out www.killboy.com and select the Photos of the Dragon for 9/23/2010. Select the Motards, Scooters, Trikes category, and once there go to page 11. Check out the 2nd row of pics, especially the center picture in that row. That was not the moment, but could have been the start of one. This is the kind of abuse my front tires saw the entire time I was ryding The Dragon.

Also, www.us129photos.com has a very good example on page 21 of the thumbnails, last 2 pictures on the second row. This was a different curve. ;)
