• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Sticky 'R'

I freaked out yesterday when I could not get my '10 Spyder RT SM5 into reverse gear. I had read that there were problems with the actuator switch, and was dreading taking it into the dealership and waiting for the part to arrive.

The 'R' switch on top of the left side of the handlebar just didn't seem to press in all the way like it should. So on a whim I shot a couple of blasts of WD-40 around the switch and let it set for about an hour.

That did the trick. The switch depresses like normal and works fluidly again.

Which makes me wonder...with it facing upward on TOP, and open to collecting moisture and dust, dirt, and other crap - have others had this problem. Also, other than the occasional shot of water displacer, any ideas how to keep the switch clean and operating freely?

It is possible for this to happen, dirt, dust, sand grit can get it there. Moisture is not supposed to, but there is always a possibility. Such things like this should be reported to BRP engineering. I talked to a BRP rep. at Spyderfest about my 2012 RT starter button being cold natured. I had to put a heat lamp on the button area in order for it to start in 50 degree weather, if I didn't it would not start. Starter button was replaced, problem solved. My RT started in 31 degree wet weather in Springfield, MO.
